  1. This is very similar to people talking about PlayStation 5 games being held back by being cross gen. Please do not release Metroid Prime 4 on switch. People will get over this. I want the game as good as possible and the switch hardware is so limited. Only 2 please.

I also think it would be crazy to release a new console without Mario Kart on release day. But yea maybe right after launch would work too. Mario 3d and Mario Kart right away sounds like a super safe bet.

  2. Glad this one got recommended to me 😀
You did a fantastic job as a host Roger! Was definitely a fun watch. And boy do I hope that we'll get to see this new system in just a few months… honestly can't wait for it to get revealed!

  3. Really hope Switch 2 is backwards compatible – especially with physical carts. Most of my Switch library is physical carts. I can accept downloading the game again when you put in a cart if the system has a lot of internal storage by default like the PS5. I expect with updated versions of games, first party will be free upgrades for existing games but they'll let 3rd parties charge an upgrade fee like Sony did for PS4->PS5 versions of games.

I could see the new console being a dual screen clamshell design. I think Nintendo likes the multiple screen play. It worked great on the DS/3DS and Wii U for UI, maps, etc. too. But other than that, I expect it'll be just a big spec update to the Switch and might even be called "Switch 2" or "new Switch" or "Switch DS" (if it's dual screen).

I agree with the idea of really wanting the social features back too though. Basic messaging, something like Street Pass, etc. But overall, I want more features built into the OS. The Switch home screen is nice and clean, but I want folders, themes, achievements, a better friends list with messaging, etc. Give me the fun and quirky music style that the Wii had, too. I have a ton of ideas on how Nintendo could do achievements that plays into their image and branding too.

  4. I had a bunch of ideas for smash newcomers but the most obvious to me is Haybusa from Ninja Gaiden. Its publisher has no playable character yet. Its a new franchise to smash, has classic and current appeal, is popular in multiple regions of the world, ect.

I think mario kart will start going for more guest characters for DLC. Maybe they put out DLC for the whole gen maybe at a little less of a pace than how they handeled the DLC for 8 deluxe.

  5. Everyone I think is on the ball. Anyone that has played Nintendo for years kinda know how they tick. Smash is a genius idea to fill that Mario kart role from this generation. And the idea of it is amazing, there are 96 tracks I believe in Mario kart 8 deluxe. Next I think Pokemon could really be creative with 5th generation. Not only were black and white in different universes because of black city and the white forest but black and white 2 were in the future. Make them a black 3 and white 3. One is an hd 2d and the other is a chibi style leading to the first big switch 2 game being legends kyruem the starters will be bulbasuar, torchic, froakie. ❤ I’m not even gonna start on MP4

  6. if "Switch 2" doesn't get revealed by late July, it won't release this year. I think it'll at least be revealed by the end of the calendar year. I think February we're getting a Direct focusing solely on Switch software, as Nintendo has pledged ongoing support for that console already., possibly an announcement for a new MAR10 Day bundle, hardware price drop, and the first wave of Nintendo Selects.

  7. I didn't buy tears of the kingdom because I felt like it wasn't worth the 70$ purchase on the switch when it barely looks better than botw, I'll buy totk day one on switch if it has performance enhancement

  8. Roger, you blew my mind with that comment about Ocarina of Time 3D now being farther away from us than it was from the original Ocarina release. I was in the first half of Kindergarten when Ocarina came out and 3D launched between my high school completion and graduation. That game literally bookended both sides of my grade schooling. Now I realize that I've gone through essentially my entire childhoods worth of time since then. Wow. That really made the 2010s feel fast. It felt long at the time, but it felt so much faster than all of grade school. But so much has also happened in that time. It's incredible

  9. Well Nintendo can’t price the Switch 2 at the same price as the Switch and I doubt we will see a price cut to the Switch at all. I think Nintendo will just wind down production of the Switch and do game pack in deals but no price cut. So what ever the Switch sells for in your area add on another $100.

  10. I don’t think there will be any kind of wrapping up game announcements for the switch or ending Support for the switch and that is because it currently has a user install base of over 130 million customers they’re not going to abandon that user base in favor of full support for their next consul Nintendo is going to continue pushing out games for the current switch. So really, we could see an announcement for Nintendo‘s next GEN system at any time.

  11. Here’s a cool idea. Switch 2 only has 1 screen but you can buy a 2nd attachable screen. That way Nintendo can add DS/3DS games to the online roster. It’s a win/win addition, and you can detach the second screen whenever.

  12. 1) I think June reveal tbh. Let the Switch have it's last few months in the spotlight, get those final sales, and then push hard for the last few months to a mid October release date.

    2) Backwards compatibility is a must. Sure 3rd parties won't like it, but that's because 3rd parties want to resell you the games again. I'm sure they're just as against the idea on PS and Xbox, but that didn't stop them from commiting to bring games forward, plus with digital titles it feels even more manditory, and it actually helps sell your new console, because anyone who for some reason didn't get a Switch, but does get a Switch 2, now has access to not just the new Switch 2 games, but the entire libeary of Switch games, which I think is gonna be a big push of the rumored "Nintendo Selects" campaign to "Play the Best of Switch on your Switch 2".

    3) New features are gonna be minimal. I think Nintendo learnt some hard lessons from the Wii U of not messing too much with what works. Granted, the Wii wasn't going to a long term sustable model anyway, but the mishmash of features for the WiiU, along with the abysmal marketing killed it. Nintendo has opened up a whole new gaming market with the Switch, and I don't think they're gonna wanna mess with it too much. Yeah, we'll get much better performance, joycon that actually work, a somewhat better online, but really that'll be the takeaway, what you loved on the Switch, improved.

    4) Honestly. I kinda think they go Switch 2. Again, I think they know how badly they screwed up with the WiiU, and don't want to risk confusing people. Everyone understand numbering, it's simple, it's to the point, and it makes it clear what it is. It's the Switch, but newer.

    5) My feeling is they drop all models of the Switch, except the Lite. Because of the lack of Dock and the connected controlers, the Lite is easy enough for consumers to be able to tell apart from a Switch 2, which will take over for the traditional Switch models. That then allows them to have the Lite become there budget handheld, and continue releasing some smaller games for, for the forseeable future, without splitting the playerbase too much as the games would also work with Switch 2. I think we get just one SKU for the Switch 2, and it's $399, and the Lite gets a new SKU bundle.

    6) I think launch is gonna be HUGE for Switch 2.
3D Mario is going to be the headliner, huge openworld, but more compairable to Sonic Frontiers than BotW or TotK, but a big push will be environmetal disasters been caused by Bowser that change up the areas as you play (think the fludding of Delfino Plaza in Sunshine, but in real time).
Tied with that will be Mario Kart X, which I agree will be a crossover focused game. It'll launch with only 8 cups, 4 been the traditional Mario, DK & Yoshi themes with a big focus on brand new tracks, but a few returning tracks mixed in, noteably none will be ones that returned in 8/8DX, while the others 4 are focused on other IP. Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and F-Zero will all return alongside, Metroid, Kirby, Pikmin and Starfox, all who will get both tracks and characters. They'll also confirm that the games will be getting new cups and characters every 3-4 months
The 3rd and final 1st party release will be Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Deluxe. The game will have a big push for single player content, with a ton of returning modes. Adventure Mode from Melee, Smash Run and Smash Tour from WiiU/3DS and Break the Targets (but it'll sadly only have a set number of levels rather than a unique one for each character). The game will also come with 5 new fighters. Two 1st party and Three 3rd party. The 1st party, to the fustration of some Smash players will be Noah from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Alear from Fire Emblem Engage. The 3rd party will be used to promote the 3 companies bringing big releases to Switch on launch, though not the games themselves. They are Klonoa from Bandai Namco, Rayman from Ubisoft and Crash Bandicoot from Activision/Xbox.
The big 3rd party releases that hit Switch at launch are Elden Ring, Star Wars Outlaws and Spyro the Dragon 4.
Then next in November sees the Switch 2's first big cross-gen title, with Pokemon Black Complete (Black/Black 2) and Pokemon White Complete (White/White 2), them been bundled remakes of the Pokemon Black and White and Pokemon Black 2/White 2. The games won't go open world, and instead remain as more linar titles, though they'll at least not be chibi style like BDSP, and instead go more toward a simlar graphic style to the Let's Go titles. The game will run better on Switch 2 but not much else, though as a fun bonus, the game will know which system you're playing on and that'll be reflected in the players house as they'll either show a classic switch or switch 2. Following that the next Call of Duty will also release day and date with the PS and Xbox versions.
After those the holiday will be quiet, but the next big release will be Metroid Prime 4 in March 2025, which will, fustratingly to many be Switch 2 exclusive. Though Prime 2 and 3 remasters will release on Switch in 2024 to try and smooth things over.

  13. Here’s my prediction: the Super Nintendo Switch (yes, that’s what I think it will be called) launches in September with 3D Mario and a New Horizons port, which will get the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe treatment and receive new content for years to come. In either October or early November we get a new 2D Zelda developed by Grezzo, in December we get Mario Kart 9, and during the first quarter of 2025 we get Metroid Prime 4. At the end of 2025, we get either a Black and White remake or Gen 10.

  14. I think MP4 as a dual release like Twilight princess or botw did back in their days is a must happen. I legitimately dont see it going any other way, unless MP4 is still in the middle of development hell.
