I’m a little late, but today I wanted to talk about the new Joy-Con charging stand Nintendo announced for release in October.

  1. This is how I know I’ll truly watch any of your videos. I saw the thumbnail of an accessory I’ll never buy and I thought “Welp I might as well hear him out” lol. Amazing discussion as always!

  2. If I were going to make BS up about this accessory, wouldn't the leading theory be a new model of Switch that doesn't have joycons attach to it… like a TV-only model.

  3. Like, I do think the colored buttons theory has SOME weight to it when you take into account Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door. I’m sure you know there was like, 4K capability in the game’s files and between those two things and how late it was made into the Switch’s life, it could mean something.

But I’m also one to err on the side of skepticism with these kinds of things, while still considering the alternative if it seems plausible. And this at least seems plausible that it might have something to do with Switch 2. But there’s also the fact it releases same day as Mario Party and Mario Party will be playable on Switch Lite and the accessory might be for people who have spare Joy-Cons, a Switch Lite, and Mario Party and want to play the motion control games… a niche group, I’m sure. But more likely it’s an accessory just for charging Joy-Cons for a game with Joy-Con functionality.

And there’s also the simple fact… maybe this is just an oddball decision. Nintendo certainly has done that plenty before. It could be using old stock… or this could just be a weird decision made on a whim.

And one last thing- I’m still good on Switch 2 news. Maybe I’ll change my tune when we see news on the games, but for right now, I’m good clearing through my backlog.

  4. I’ve always hated charging the NES controllers on the switch so I’m buying it one way or the other. I think it for sure is with Switch 2 in mind but I don’t think that an announcement is imminent because of this

  5. I feel like this should of been released a few years ago for switch 1, since at this point, they released so many joycon colors/themes.. so people have another way to charge.

  6. I can definitely use this for my NES controllers that haven't been charged ever since a couple months. I only have a switch lite So there was no I can charge them but thanks to this I'll be able to charge them.
