  1. Everything about how that harness is put together just screams Ford. I'm a ford guy, and i hate doing electrical on fords… Dont put the damn wire harness behind the E-brake lol

  2. I have a 2002 Ford F350 super duty. My trailer flashers wouldn't work, and I traced it down to a wire between the fuse box in the cab and the relay box under the hood. In the middle of this wire loom that's all wrapped up that goes from the fuse box through the firewall into the engine compartment, there is one of those splices. The splice in the middle of that harness went bad. I just added another wire to bypass the splice and all was good. Good old Ford quality is job one crappola.

  3. America cars are a joke. The japs and Germans use a sub-harness that is replaceable. Disconnect the sub-harness clip a new one in and done in 30 min. American cars itโ€™s an 8 hour job with 25 splices lol

  4. It's crazy that they run that many wires through a door like that. Of course thats going to happen. And when you work with electronics and you know thereโ€™s actually no reason too. It would have been cheaper and easier to run power and network to the door rather than sending 50 plus cables. But then you add complexity of another module. Also reliability of the module. And the quality of automotive electronics is about the same as a Chinese e-scooter ๐Ÿ˜‚.
On some of our stuff we run over a fiber network and wireless network for redundancy. But sometimes over a standard bus network. Mostly due to the size factor and voltage loss. And to avoid noise on the network.

  5. I went through the same thing with my Jeep. Power window stopped working. Checked the wiring between the door and the frame. Found a bunch of wires that were damaged. Repaired them. Found out I had speakers in the back doors lol. Fortunately for me, there's a connector for all the door stuff just inside the door. So I disconnected that and then fed that out without having to unplug my speakers, windows, locks, etc.

  6. Honestly thought you lost your mind pulling all that wire. Figured you wouldn't find a break…but you found multiple. Good job, Ray. Wish I still lived in the Bradenton/Sarasota area.

  7. did something similar on my tacoma, had aftermarket alarm/remote start. it was dying on test drive, and it drains battery so i decide to take it out myself. with a 10mm socket and a flashlight. had to take most of dash including speedometer out trace wires, have some more to go found out why stereo/headunit didnt play any stations getting new 1 of those and redoing entire dash with leds and have to repair fan in truck too

  8. Been there and done this many times. Nothing like standing on your head in a cramped area that stinks. And usually the dinger is going off the whole time you are trying to diagnose. So glad I am not in that field anymore. Props to all those who stick it out and make a lifetime career out of this. Wasn't for me. It is what interested me more.

  9. When you're doing that stuff in the footwell I get a crick in my neck, 'cos I'm trying to look round the corner in case I can see better — and then I realise what I'm doing …. ! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

  10. Being a retire atm tech, I come across power loss issues most being 24 dc that opens the safe doors scess. Usually the woke order indicates that the armor can not open the safe for replenish the cash. I found out over the e years that certain atm manufacturers zip tie cables too tight, which over the years the cables brake doe to wear and tear. A unfamiliar tech would find no power and would drill out the safe to access the power supply. I would cut all the zip ties and fix the broke cables , issues resolved. Saving the bank time and money without drilling out the door for hours. Cable management is look over too much.

  11. Guys, Ray's ability to read schematics helped him zero in…not hesitating on the dig saved more time. And lastly his physical dexterity and assembly familiarity got him inside fast. What you're seeing here is the best of this kind of skill set.
