P900 lenses extend in stages. Sand, drops, or a dead mid-zoom gear leave the barrel crooked. Gentle persuasion sometimes works; forced twisting finishes the job.
Try this first
- Fresh batteries—weak power stalls the zoom motor.
- Power on pointed down so gravity helps slightly.
- Press zoom gently while supporting the barrel—no pliers.
- Blow grit with a blower; do not flood with liquid.
Safety notes
If the barrel is tilted, stop. Continuing grinds teeth off the zoom gears.
