  1. Late Night with the Devil was great! One of only 2 movies I’ve seen in the theatre this year. I bought a physical copy from overseas 😊

  2. That superchat about Texan/Floridian Hollywood comment doesn't take into account how much my beloved homestate and slightly less beloved neighbor have been overrun by people fleeing California and then trying to "fix" the state they moved to because they miss California. Like, we Texans have a joke about Central Texas/Austin area being Southern South California. A Texas Hollywood would be born in Austin (because it thinks it's the music and entertainment capitol of the world; spoilers, no), and it would be exactly the same but on a smaller budget and with less recognizable actors.

  3. Regarding fav sketch show. There are so many good ones, The two Ronnies, Monty Python, Benny Hill, A Bit Of Fry & Laurie, Little Britain, Spitting Image, Not The Nine O'Clock News, The Catherine Tate Show and so on. Hard to pick a fav. If I have to choose I would probably pick The two Ronnies.

  4. Given current events, I'd like to see a one off low budget Iron Man movie similar to 2022 'The Batman' concept (better executed). Have Terrance E. Howard play Tony Stark. He appears to be uniquely qualified to understand Mr. Stark's character. Choose the best available actors for Pepper Pots and Col Rhodes, pay no regard to the actor's race. Most of the production as long been done for Iron Man, so they can do a good version at a lower budget.

  5. I'd go for Loch Ness over Bigfoot just for the implausibility. A large and reclusive primate avoiding provable detection for a century is highly unlikely but not completely impossible. But a fucking species of dinosaur clinging to existence within a body of fresh water? One is vastly more shocking than the other.

  6. As a GenX, who grew up running home to watch the OG Star Trek at 3p, it gives me so much joy that MauLer is becoming a Treker (the original term in my mom's gen, trekkie is what we called ourselves)

  7. I have to disagree with Drinker on the scene in Midnight Mass where the characters discuss death. I find many of the monologs in that series to be overly long and straining on my suspension of disbelief. Worst yet, I find them poorly written and acted. That scene in particular feels like sitting in on an episode of the Joe Rogan Podcast where DMT gets mentioned. The concepts the characters discuss may be novel to some but, having grown up on the west coast, it came across as borning stereotypical stoner talk you could find in any basement on I5 in 2012.

  8. As regards Scotty getting bigger with each successive film, my brother in law is an engineer and not unlike Scotty in girth; his response to this observation was "He's just getting into character." Fair enough.

  9. For me, what makes a character fascinating is a sense of agency, well defined and consistent character traits and motivations that drive the plot, put them at odds with an antagonist, and generate interesting conflict. Alot of classic hero's journies can feature blank slates who are constantly dragged through the adventure with little input. Conversely, a character like Tony Soprano is almost predictable because we know him so well. Yet this is the most interesting type of character to see tested by intense conflict because they are often forced to struggle against themselves.

  10. They remade the Shatner Twilight Zone Episode in the Twilight Zone Movie and the part was played by John Lithgow. Later, Shatner played The Big Giant Head on the Third Rock from the Sun. He came to visit but landed in the wrong state and had to take a plane the rest of the way. When he got there they asked him how was the trip and he said, "It was horrifying. I saw a man out on the wing," to which Jon Lithgow replied, "The same thing happened to me!"

  11. Mauler… if anything might encourage you to see Meet Joe Black, perhaps it's this line, one of the best veiled threats in movie history… "Joe Black: Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors."

  12. Original Gremlin portrayal comes from Looney Toons… Bugs Bunny vs crazy arse Gremlin creature. One of LT best… next to BB v Dracula.

  13. Gremlins were fictional, mischievous creatures that became popular during World War II as scapegoats for aircraft breakdowns and flight accidents. The word "gremlin" is thought to come from the Old English word gremian, which means "to vex"
