  1. I'll blow your mind: all phones are glued, out of the factory (and still waterproof). Some repair shops (incl. Apple) do it seamlessly, some do it messy.

  2. There's nothing bodged about a chip swap for the ID if it's put on a 2nd hand apple part, which there are heaps of because iPhones are fragile and heaps get thrown, and there is a big black-market in stolen iPhones.
Take it to a high level repairer like STS Telecom and all those 3rd party problems are fixed.

  3. There's a simple solution to all of this: DON'T damage your phone. I've owned and used dozens of smartphones, none of them ever attracted a scratch, much less a crack. People who treat their phones like shit are MORONS!!!

  4. That's why I hate these places. They just can't be trusted. Many of them will tell you they are using OEM parts, charge you the cost of the OEM part and then use a knock-off part to make more profit. Then you have places that if they make a mistake and break something else in the process will charge you for the additional repair for the thing that THEY broke. It's all a scam.

This is why I just buy a new phone when my battery wears out.

  5. The problem is not if you can afford it, the real problem is most of the people don't know or don't care about "the Right To Repair" and accept any draconian Closed Garden policy to feel fashion.

The video could be so different if Apple open the market of repairing parts… Probably no problems at all aside the usual statistical rates

  6. I replaced my iPhone 5 screen for $30. Let me repeat. $30. That price included SHIPPING form NYC and we did it in 2018! I did the replacement myself, it took about 20 minutes, with the suction cups to get the screen out (once the screen is wrecked you can "have your way" with it when removing it). Now apple seems to have 16x'd that price. Way to go Apple! A $40 screen and you charge $400 for the repair!!! nice one apple!!! Tim Cook is smoking $100 bills and laughing all the way to the bank …

  7. The official route used to be a replacement handset, that’s why they asked you to wipe it, they hoped that you wouldn’t realise the handset had changed

  8. Next time send someone who isn't known, the chance of getting recognised as a large techtuber is not good in the slightest when it comes to tests like this.

There's a reason LTT, Gamers Nexus, Jayz and so many others send in 'unknown' employees to do this stuff.

  9. Apple Users: "iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone!" πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒ

    Android users: "Duuuuhhhhhhhhh!" 🀀πŸ€ͺ🀀πŸ€ͺ🀀🫨

Me: 🀀πŸ€ͺ🀀πŸ€ͺ🀀🫨 "Nom nom nom nerp nerp nerrrrp!"

For everyone else there's the good old fashioned flip phone,… from 1999,… back when things were soooooo much less insane.

"iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone! Nyyyyaaannng nerp nerp nerp duuuuuuiiiiiiiiuuuuuhhhh!" πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚πŸ€€πŸ€ͺ🀀πŸ€ͺ🀀πŸ€ͺ🀀🫨

    My sentiments exactly!
