The ps6 won’t be $1000. Prices don’t increase every time. They usually just drop the price of the current system and replace it with the new system at that price. So the ps6 would likely be $500.
Sony also is doing a PS5 pro yellow dress edition

Dear Lord, that price makes the Steamdeck and Switch sound like Link opening a chest! That's how much I'm saving for my septic tank, so I can have electricity hooked up to my home in this inflated mess.
Sony really is becoming the Apple of the gaming industry, and they know they can do a move like that. Sony no longer sees Microsoft as direct competition, as you said, and they basically see Nintendo as how Apple sees companies like Samsung in the mobile phone market. Yes, I am aware that Samsung does make "premium" phones priced close to Apple's top of the line offerings, but Samsung's lower-cost offerings compared to Apple's budget option for their main line of phones, such as the Galaxy A23 vs the base iPhone 15, are like comparing base Switch vs digital PS5 slim in terms of pricing
Sony has lost it at this point, to the point of no return for them. Imagine charging $700 for what is a minor “upgrade” at best, Sony should be ashamed and embarrassed but then Sony’s shame and embarrassment went the moment they transferred to California from Japan, the old Sony died when Ken Kutaragi left.

Wow Sony. Seriously $700? Maybe if it includes the stand, 2 controllers, and a triple A pack-in title. Throw in a $100 discount on PSVR if I buy it within 6 months and maybe it starts to look like an acceptable price.
