  1. I would have drilled out the long plastic "peg" and replaced it with similar – but longer piece of metal or plastic. I keep odds and ends just for such a job. There's a few Dyson parts I have that are perfect. Superglue the 2 "wedge" shaped plastic parts back on

  2. Nice fix. My plan of attack would be to lengthen the rod, with a screw. Precision drilling required, into the end of broken rod. Then insert a screw, (preferrably with a round head). Adjust the length by trial and error, then epoxy the exposed thread and smooth over.

  3. I would have gone for the 'super glue and baking soda' solution to build up the end of the plunger, very quick and super hard, easily shaped after with either a rat tail file or sandpaper. I discovered it as a way to repair guitar bridges which had their slots had been accidentally filed a a little too deep. It is a brilliant method to build up very quickly tabs that have broken off etc, etc

  4. Hi Vince, here is a suggestion to your modification: instead of having to cut the plastic to increase the length would it be useful to slide the metal top off a cheap pen? Might have to super glue it on but once fitted the repair would last considerably longer than the plastic. Would be interested in your thoughts. Great upload as ever. 5. I think as it's plastic it will break again, personally I would have sleeved the broken shaft with some copper car brake pipe or similar for strength. But love your videos, keep it up..

  6. Great fix. Another possible approach could be using shrink tubing that has glue inside the tube. I've used that type of shrink tubing to fix a broken plastic arm for a tablet stand and it worked perfect, especially because the glue dries hard as a rock making it an incredibly strong bridge. You could have either used the shrink tube to elongate the shortened piece of plastic, or use the shrink tube to add another longer piece of plastic to the existing piece and trim it to size.

  7. Crazy to see that designers still use such complicated mechanical switches that can corrode when near water, while it would be much cheaper and more reliable to use a light barrier. Basically an LED on a gap that shines on a receiver on the other side. When you put the drawer in it would break the light barrier. Much longer lifespan.

  8. We have a Philips airfryer, that one doesn't have a safety switch for the basket. So I would just eliminate the switch on this one. But of course it's safer to have the switch, but in my mind it's not needed.

  9. I had the same idea as at first but then though cut both sides on the bit that pushes the micro switch then drill the middle out to take a new metal shaft. Won’t break or be effected by heat
