  1. Yichun, Jiangxi, CATL lepidomite suspension is very good news. The last few days, slightly steady reversal in spodumene, chemicals price. EOY could be a meaningful rally in li equities if CATL halts production as stated via Reuters.
Thanks for the interesting commentary guys, glass half full!

  2. There are hundreds of cheaper, better new models about to be released by Chinese and legacy automakers, the 2nd wave, including cars like the model 2. With the predicted lower interest rates I expect a big surge in lithium demand next year.

  3. I'm invested in Northern Minerals Limited as an Australian and am also looking at ABx Group as the U.S and Canada seem to be interested in Rare Earths and aluminium from them later. NTU isn't processing and still is in it's DFS stage with I noticed JP Morgan being a large investor. Since our current government is forcing the divestiture of Chinese investors in critical resources, I'm hoping for more investing either from Australians or from U.S. and Canada. It's a shame such a large proportion of our large investors are from overseas and we rely heavily on our smaller investors following overseas interests. I think the simple fact that for every battery means there must be an induction motor turning a shaft for a wheel. Us Australians are so far behind in our ability to produce technology, that I'm hoping our ability to be a major supplier for those manufacturers is at least still consistent as our ability to not do it ourselves. Betting on us doing nothing and having foreign interests tell us what we are good for like usual.

  4. @ 44:00 KIA is amazing. Watch this space. Recently bought KIA EV9. Wow! I mean WOOOW! They nailed it. Watch MUNRO LIVE’s most recent episode where they reveal KIA’s “…ground breaking” motor tech – a first. Again, THEY are the U.S. OEM to watch.

  5. The cumuluative POSSIBLE fines that Rodney mentioned are for the entire automotive industry and not one specific OEM. Luca de Meo head of the ACEA said: "with the current levels of electric vehicle sales" "15 billion euros in fines or give up the production of more than 2.5 million vehicles". OEMs can and will increase EV sales next year vs this year. All the talk about lowering the emission targets is purely speculative. There is no hard evidence to suggest that it will happen. That being said OEMs need to increase EV sales next year significantly and they have levers to pull to make that happen. Wether or not it will be enough remains to be seen.

  6. AMG Critical materials is up 23% in just a few days on this news. They are best positioned for Europe, so I guess something is happening. Someone is buying or shorts are being covered.

  7. Thacker Pass? GM is partnered with Posco on a cathode materials plant in Becancour, Quebec. This plant will purchase Li hydroxide from the Posco-PLS chemical plant in Korea. GM made their initial investment in LAC at much higher lithium chemical prices. Needless to say, no doubt Posco has educated GM on all things lithium from mine to cathode materials, focusing on spodumene hard rock and brine.I would bet that GM writes off their investment in LAC and doesn't add any more capital. If I was LAC, with over US$300 in the bank, and provided it isn't dedicated to Thacker Pass, I would be looking at finding a "plan B" asap while spodumene prices are low…. Speaking of Q2, on the back of an envelope, their Cisco discovery is already looking to be well over 150 million tonnes at a high grade. In the context of the Azure transaction, I would be surprised if someone doesn't make a move on Q2 sooner than later.
