There is a paint remover pad for a grinder
There's something about women in work overalls – I'll leave it there before I get into trouble 🤣
Keep up the good work, love to see people getting stuck in 👍
Its a good start to this type of repair, once you have the skills of what tools too use you just need time and practise too get it really good. well done. Bob
Hi Steph. This is a great series and its wonderful to see you positive. Also admire you for all this hard work.
Good shout about the chrome finishing strip 👍 its been the destroyer of many wheel arches over the years
Well done Steph you have done brilliantly I was worried that wheel arch was too far gone but was surprised how solid it was! Tina is going to come back better than ever! You should be proud of how well you have done! Daniel
An excellent series developing here Steph! I love your positivity. The way you crack on and get stuck in despite the other stuff going on is, frankly, inspirational!
I do hope, now you've started it, you'll carry on this series after the NEC until you've got the car you really want! Thanks for sharing! 😁
You're all doing a sterling job, it's looking like such good progress.
I'm really looking forward to the next installment.
Kev's got a great character; you make a fab pair with presentation and explanation to the viewer.
Doin good.
Great video! You inspire all of us back yard mechanics to have a go at body work.
Keep on going on. My yellow TR7 is worse than that Marina. Take care, Chris Robinson TR7 V8
This is cool to watch someone repairing their classic auto….you have such enthusiasm in your quest to repair your Marina.
Well done so far. Hope you get Tina on the road soon. I actually saw a Marina in use today here in Suffolk, must have been a Marina 2 as it was V registered. Was even white, just like Tina! Alas, I was not able to photograph it, but it looked and sounded healthy! One of those cars that turn heads today!
It annoys me when you see people get a new this and that when all the old one needs a bit of patching up, a bit of cutting out and welding. I mean, spare parts for old cars are sometimes rare and getting even rarer if old reparable ones are thrown away and replaced with new. It is such short term and also very selfish thinking. I remember on Wheeler Dealers they bought a whole new wing just in order to cut out a piece of it to replace in the old wing in order to get the correct curvature. What a waist. Please car restorers, don't go so quickly to hunt out a spare part when the old one is repairable. Think of other car restorers of that car.
Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe $$%%
When I was in the trade back in the '80's, if you asked for PPE (Whatever that was)….. My god you would never work in the trade ever again, as your name would be…. Ahem….. I have sprayed cars without any form of filter stuff. All we did was drink a pint of milk after. I'm still alive and nothing wrong with my lungs. Good god I remember the old boys blowing out brake drums and saying 'Sniff it up lad, good for yer' Ah!!! built of better stuff we were back then……..
Hi Steph, that wheel arch surprised the hell out of me it was dam good, and for not putting the chrome trim is the best idea, your doing well for someone that's not done it before so keep going and if you get the chance to get some wings get them they will come in handy.
Amazing effort Steph & great shout running a more low cost classic as a daily – my restored ‘68 Beetle is too nice to use every day so am considering getting something you’re not too precious about. Can’t wait to see the final results, we’ll be at the NEC in a couple of weeks 😀
Hi Steph, I've followed your channel for a long time now. I love what you do and your passion for these old cars. Well done, you are a true inspiration to many, including me. I'm seriously considering a classic…I've realised thanks to watching you, that they don't have to be garage queens, they can be used and loved, and don't need to be perfect and the fact that the car is on the road can be enough…I wish you every success and send my best wishes. 😊
Tina's starting to look better Steph 😊👍
I love this, it's ace watching you under the tutelage of Kev making excellent progress and uncovering more rot to deal with. Tina is definitely worth preserving.
Fun video, very interesting!
Where there's a will there's always a way! inspiring
Good on ya, lovely! Looking forward to seeing you both next month 😁
Tack let the heat disappear .Then retack less heat in metal
You are making a lot of work for yourself putting so much filler on, personally I would be putting far less on and using a stainless steel applicator rather than the plastic ones that the filler comes with, it will save you a lot of time sanding, but great effort
Nice one Steph it will get there your giving it your best shot I’ve been busy doing bits on albie the Austin today 👌x
Another interesting video but I still don’t know how you do it… even in a boiler suit you look glamorous 😀
Love the final shot! 🙂
Really enjoying this mini series Steph. Thanks for sharing the experience.
Good job and I´m glad to see that you wear proper protective devices all over, especially with the sneaky fibreglass dust.
great progress steph
Oh and one car I had many years ago had the back of the sills stuffed with Brillo pads and filled over…….I had self cleaning back wheels every time it rained until I chopped the rubbish out and plated the sill properly…..couldn’t help but smile at it though! 😆😆
That car is not to bad u can patch that up and it will look great keep up the good work 👍
Best of luck Steph its going to well worth it
As far as not using the grinder "correctly" – a) you're getting the job done, b) you should see what some so called professionals do, and c) no one died! 😉
It is coming along slowly you are doing a good job.
Top video from a top girl on a top car
Hey Steph it looks like you’re doing a great job of repairing your marina and most importantly your enjoying it, it’s so easy to say ohh that’s wrong or don’t do it like that but it seems you have a great mentor with you and your getting stuck in, it’s fantastic to see your enthusiasm good luck with the rest of your journey.
Hello Steph & Kev!! What a wonderful and economic repair(s) you are doing to this car! Keep going!! Very enjoyable!! Best wishes from Lincolnshire
I don't mind finding the chicken wire or newspaper from 1982 because there's a good chance it was this economical repair that tipped the balance and saved it from the scrap heap.
I'm a Mercedes aficionado (my wife says nut) and here in the US it's common for the models I like, from the 60's thur 80's, to have aftermarket chrome strips attached to the mudguards, on the wings just like the one you removed from this car. I think they are simply garish and unnecessary and they are responsible for rust causation just like you discovered. Good idea to get rid of them. Good job so far.
Just watched episode 3 and was immediately hooked. Have gone back and watched the previous two. Brilliant to see you take on an honest restoration of a British classic, unlike the TV shows. My grandparents had a Marina when I was growing up, good memories. Look forward to further adventures! 👍
I dont know Kev's job but he is clearly a born teacher it's great to watch him passing on his skills and being so supportive while doing it.
Im loving these videos. Its great to see you getting stuck in. Top tip… I see you and Freddy having to flip that welding mask up and down tonsee where youre starting… The auto-darkening masks are not expensive and make it sooooooo much easier to start the weld where you want to. Are you putting any protection on the inside of the wing and wheel arch and what do you recommend?
You make it look doable, Steph! Excited for the next installment.
