I've seen these tags used in a few of the many shark documentaries I've watched. They implant these in a sharks body cavity by making a tiny incision in a sharks skin, insert the tag, then, with a few stitches, seal the incision, and finally, release the shark. With the amazing healing capabilities sharks have, it doesn't take long for incisions to implant these tags to heal.
