  1. Got myself first nintendo switch to repair, 20€ , it's a working unit but i have to buy a lot of parts for it, wich brings the coat up to 80-100€ … But i'm excited to work on it ( i've been tinkering with phones/tablets/laptops before, first time working with a switch) … The unit as i've said it's working, but it looks like someone tried to open it , and broke entire plastic shell , almost ripped off the power and volume board , cpu heatsink was bent , thermal paste missing , one joycon rail gone , and a lot more … Gonna restore it to factory new … Step by step

  2. @6:05 it was kind of hard to catch but it looked like MAX8969 (ALJ+) 5v boost chip was cracked. It’s a glass chip right above the right joy-con connector next to the CPU shield. I see that one cracked a lot from people when they take the heatsink off. It’s easy to nick and since it’s glass it breaks.

  3. When the power drains when AutoRCM was enabled you can end up in this "softbrick" like enviroment, and the system won't charge. It will only charge when Horizon is booted which you can't do in this current situation. But the fix is simple, even though it appears off, Hold power for 12 seconds to make sure it is really off. Then with usb cable attached to PC send Hekate Payload and use volume + power to boot, It will boot into Hekate and then you can boot into Horizon and it will charge like normal. Also AutoRCM is dangerous for this reason and should always be disabled.

  4. more often than not it's just the controller part of the nand that dies and you can dump enough to replace the nand and get it booting without modchipping it, a lot more effort than it's worth though. Absolutely not an economical fix either way

  5. Unfortunately not everything is fixable for what ever reason , all you can do is your best that things will allow and let the owner decide which path he wants to go down when you give him the news.

  6. It's a shame that you feel the need to be so careful as to not even offer a service that would get the customer's device working again.

You're not wrong, Nintendo is litigious AF… and I don't blame you for making that choice. It's just a sad state of affairs.

  7. So… I got this switch mainboard wich is 100% working and it always charge at a max of 0.49A. It doesn't matter if I plug in a new battery, it's always max 0.49. The first time I got this mainboard I thought it was faulty. But using it for weeks now doesn't seem to be any problem with it. Except it charges only at 0.49A (@15v). I guess the charging chip is "kinda" faulty but works in a way that it doesn't break the device.. Never seen this before, so kinda weird…PS: No shorts on the board
