The macOS Sonoma 14.1 update is causing issues for some Unsupported OpenCore Legacy Patcher 1.1.0 Mac devices that require an updated 14.1 KDK update. After installing the Sonoma 14.1 Update the Mac will be stuck at a progress bar, or Black Screen and be unable to boot back into the OS. I’ll…

  1. Hello thank you so much , please I need help . I had the issue with Sonoma 14.1 on iMac 17,1 where it didn’t install the KDK , so I used the bless command you showed in terminal and manually installed the KDK 23B74 and installed root patches , rebooted and everything seems to be fine except disk permissions are messed up and it shows I am booting from Snapshot in disk utility . Now that is fixed do I need to exit this blessed snapshot mode to use computer as normal . It says I only have permission to β€œread”

  2. I recently updated my mac pro 2017 none touch bar to Sonoma and i put it sleep and now it wont come on, what is the best about way to go into bringing it back to life?

  3. You have amazing videos!
I am stuck. I installed Sonoma from scratch successfully last month (MacPro 5,1) and it has been awesome. I got a prompt to update OCLP to 1.1 (from 6.7) and went ahead and did that. And now nothing works. I have attempted to do fresh installs on 2 different SSDs and each time it gets to the last reboot, I get the apple and the progress bar. But the bar only goes a tiny bit forward before stopping / hanging. I tried this fix (the video), no luck. I tried doing an OCLP installation onto the 1st SSD from another computer. I was able to get OCLP EFI configured on the drive (Using the 5,1 settings) but had the same problem when I tried it in the 5,1.

    Any suggestions?

  4. Thanks to all the OCLP developers and Mr.Macintosh for breathing life into unsupported macs.

I just wanted to know if you wiped the entire internal ssd, or just the APFS container while installing sonoma on Macbook Pro 15" 2017?

  5. I have a Mid 2010 model (4gb RAM) Macbook pro 13". I have been using ubuntu on it for a few years, no problems, only the display was blinking during startup and shutdown time . After watching your tutorial, I installed Big Sur. working fine. .I would appreciate if you could give a tutorial on how to install Ubuntu on an external hard drive and run with this machine.

  6. Thank you. Truly πŸ™πŸΌ. So, I do not have an Ethernet dongle & I did not have functioning WiFi either of course. But I do have an iPhone with a hotspot & was able to plugin the iPhone & connect via USB to the hotspot which allowed me to perform this workaround. Just thought I’d share in hopes it helps anyone else!

It’s been said before by many, but thank you, so so much. For this software & especially for this life saving video. I installed the latest update without even thinking & that’s not how I normally go about things but I could not boot up past the login screen & safe mode would not function either. THANK. YOU. for this quick workaround & clear explanation of the steps/code. I have the exact same model as you display in this example & everything went flawlessly. For now. Will be on the lookout for future patches as they come. Thank you again πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

  7. Thank you Mr Macintosh for the warnings. I upgraded anyway from Sonoma 14.0 to 14.1 with OCLP 1.1.0 on my MBP 8,1 13" 2011 using ethernet connection – without any problem – . Not much risk taken here as system is installed on separate SSD and data stored on second SSD replacing optical drive. Wifi and bluetooth working fine when switching from ethernet to wifi after install.

  8. Good afternoon Mr. Macintosh,
Thank you for the wonderful explanation.
I work with a Macbook pro Mid 2015.
I tried everything several times, as you explain it so professionally.
But, if I start it up like you did, I get the same screen, but I only get the white bar that always stops in the middle! What else can I do? Thank you in advance for your help. Kind regards from Belgium

  9. Thanks for this video! Three little notes: 1) I thought I'd prepared sufficiently by installing OpenCore Legacy Patcher 1.1.0 over Ethernet, and just in case I manually installed the KDK for 14.1 too, before upgrading from macOS 14.0 to 14.1. Still, I got the 30-40% progress bar issue while upgrading the OS, and had to boot to safe mode, which let the upgrade complete. I could then remove the root patches and reinstall them, and everything worked fine in the end. Note 2) The system is very slow at the login screen in safe mode on my unsupported MBP 15" late 2013 when entering my password. Might affect all older machines and not just mine. And note 3) If you run Boot Camp, the EFI partition might show up labeled as "Windows", but the icon is the same design as shown in the video.
