  1. Hard to muster enthusiasm for Canon’s next exorbitantly priced flagship when I have zero desire for Canon’s current overpriced flagship from which it almost certainly will derive.

  2. I own the R3 my self and the R5C.
The R3 is amazing for photos.. Only thing I would love to have was more MP actually… No global shutter… no 8K video or 6K for that matter.. no nothing, just the 45 MP stills..

For video i use two C70 with the speedbooster.. and thats all i need for my work for video.
But its a pain in the but to switch between two cameras for photo all the time.

  3. I think an R3 MkII will not be out until 2026 if it arrives. The R3 is only 2 years old now, so 2025 seems too early to change it as Canon aren't as quick as Sony. The tech on the R3 is only slightly out of date if you look at the R7 and Sony kit, and there's plenty of scope for feature updates via Firmware upgrades as it still has a lot of unrealised potential. Also, there's an R1 and an R5 MkII to think about, and I expect one of those this year and the other next year, as I don't see Canon releasing two top price cameras the same year, not only for marketing reasons but also that they won't be developing all three in parallel, they will be at different stages likely started work on them at least a year apart.

  4. I wonder if you had the plane ticket to the Nikon event in your hand and they told you that it was for the prelaunch event of the z6iii would you have told us? I’m sure there have been a few times that you said you didn’t know anything about a product and as soon it was announced you had a prereview released the same day.

  5. A new DPR article is "Sony a9 III: Global shutter comes with an image quality cost". That doesn't sound like something that Canon would want to follow. On the other hand, Canon currently makes industrial global shutters.

  6. Do we remember when people mocked Canon for not going mirrorless sooner. I think we can wait for global shutter to be done properly too. I hope the R3mkII that you described does see the light of day.
