“What Did I Miss? [WDIM]”

One of the most divisive series that Star Trek has ever produced has come to an end, as the finale of Star Trek Discovery has now been released. Since the shows first season, fans of the franchise have both lauded and outright hated this series for various different reasons. I myself have…

  1. Why do you not like Sonequa Martin-Green? Also I feel like the hate Star Trek Discovery is so misguided and every issue with the series that I’ve seen goes against what Star Trek stands for.

  2. Discovery was really good in the first season and second season. When they went to the future, it was mildly interesting, but honestly, that wore off quickly. I think the last seasons has been the worst. The other issue I had with discovery was the push the woke agenda.

  3. I'd really like to see William Shatner play Captain Kirk one more time .He's lived on this Earth so long. No one knows where georgio went in the time portal? First she goes to place before Captain Kirk died helping Captain Picard. In the mirror world.Years later. Imperial Georgio goes to her private dungeon to check on Captain Kirk now years older. Still cute. She wants Captain Kirk to help her change the mirror universe. Because the mirror universe in the year of Discovery. Was worth off than when Discovery went 900 years in the future. They still hadn't found the reason for the dial lithium crystals to malfunction. It's not the same as Discovery Star Trek.😊

  4. This is not Star Trek. It's boring. Thank you for acknowledging that it was bad. Interesting how you asked everyone to be respectful – yeah I bet some older fans go on rants about how awful this show was.

  5. Crap! This series was absolute crap! Woke culture crap! This last season was a mentally defective cross between the DaVinci code and Contact with Jodi Foster

  6. I stopped watching in early season 2. Screwed up the Klingons. Boring uninteresting characters. Sci Fi storylines but not star trek. And not even good sci-fi. Plus. Bad acting.

This show was so bad, I'd say Disney made it. It makes what they did to star wars as 5 star award winning storytelling.

  7. I think the character of Burnham started out strong and then in seasons 4 and 5, not so much. I kinda got what they were doing with the show up until the end of season 3, they made it to the future so now what, and just completely abandoned the original idea of the show, and when it took place… at first. I have a like – hate feeling about the series, and felt they should have stuck with the "Trek formula" that made the other shows great additions to the Trek universe as a whole. Overall looking forward to the new Trek series to come… maybe even be apart of something in the future.

  8. I guess I have to completely disagree with the bit about the move to the 32nd century. I felt it finally freed the show from trying to shoehorn the events of Discovery in a Pre-ToS timeline with a marginal (at best) thought of keeping things consistent with what came before. Finally, show was able to live in its own space and Burnham finally got to be Captain instead of simply being a wayward crewman who was by and large was the solution to every dilema. I felt these last 2 seasons were far better, especially season 4.

Still not my favorite Trek but it did get better over time.

  9. Basically, the show was entertaining and that is more than most shows on TV today. I overall agree with WDIM. I am glad it's over and will not watch the Academy series. Strange New Worlds is great and I'll try out the Section 31 series. Thank you WDIM for your honest and truthful comments. 🙂

  10. So much potential ended up in nothing, the story plot was actually a good idea, but it ended up unused.
its full of stupidity , unnecessary oversentimental interactions (i actually appreciate some of them but the are too many) , and nonsense dialogue just to solve a problem with a totally made up thing (Stamets and Adira dialogues are annoying), furthermore federation values are totally ruined .
The time jump in last episode is just a missed opportunity.

I miss the old star trek i really do… ( Picard , Sisko , Janeway, they are on an other level)

Beside the plot and the characters ecc.
What i really feel is missing is the tangibility of the "sci-fi" , Star trek's technologies has always been to me something that maybe a day humanity will archive, something realistic ,but in this far future technologies are just fantasy . This aspect takes away a lot of the charm in star trek.

  11. I recall a time when people hated Enterprise, DS9 an TNG. 20 years + later, People say "DS9 is the best", "Enterprise is very good." Let's wait another 20 years and we will see what people say about STDis.

  12. I low key hated the ending I wasn’t expecting years to pass like that and I don’t like HOW ZORA IS JUST GONNA BE ALONE LIKE MY GIRL ZORA SOUNDED SO SAD why did they have to age my god

  13. OMG this finale just dethroned Enterprise's for the worst Star Trek finale ever for me. None of these story choices make any sense. Why are you giving me a half hour of Burnham's Home Movies at the end like this? Why does this show keep hitting you over the head with the demand to feel a particular way? You can imply something and trust your audience to arrive at an emotional conclusion without essentially screaming "Are you EXCITED yet?" We're shaking everything really hard and shooting flames out of the floor and stuff! "Are you SAD yet?" We're showing you full facial closeups for minutes at a time and a bunch of sad whispers and tears to convince you to be sad! Let us make you OPTIMISTIC with some rousing Burnham speeches yeah that works too! Why are you throwing the life dingus into a black hole that the Progenitors inherited across a nigh-infinite continuum of universe's to seed life into successive universe's? Don't you think that might be important? But no one is even remotely upset with Michael because she's HER and it's all gonna be great! I literally feel stupider for having watched this. It was dreadful. I didn't expect it to be so bad, but it was.

  14. It DID have its good moments but its leftist woke slant on almost EVERYTHING was extremely annoying. And its hostility toward the strong, dominant straight white alpha male leader character was ALWAYS clearly evident or hanging back in the shadows, ready to strike. Having not less than FIVE non straight, non-binary characters in major/recurring cast roles was carefully calculated to piss off the traditional Star Trek fanbase. Oddly enough, I eventually came to like the reimagined Klingons. Too bad they played no part in the 1000 years in the future chapters.

  15. i can't think of any in-universe reason they would de-re-fit a ship and hide it all far away. very goofy. and how is Burnham leaving the ship? she just gonna die there? or? seems a silly thing to have spent time on in the series finale. if they found there was some huge fan uproar of it not being addressed… just make it happen in an episode of Starfleet Academy or something?

  16. I wanted to like this show. I really tried. I agree i don't believe i would ever go back an watch again. They did have great characters but somehow i felt i could never get close to sny of them. It is sad i have been a loyal fan of all the series and films but this series didn't connect with me.

  17. I disagree.
I thought the ending was great, they set up enough stuff for future trek and wrapped up enough of the shows junk. Not my favorite trek, but a good ending.

  18. When it comes to weapons of mass destruction, one thing we have learned is you can not use them..
but in the end, I believe she went back to the timeless dimension at the edge of the black hole. If it is timeless she could outlive Star-trek itself.

  19. "divisive".
It's the same as calling a callous, spiteful, mentally ill monster exhume a beloved family pet's corpse and having its way with it as "divise".
Garbage, this is what this serie was. Expensive garbage written by spiteful morons.

  20. IMO Seasons 2 and 3 were the best of the five. The series has been plagued by inconsistent writing, spotty character development and too may ephemeral characters who came and went without explanation. That being said I also think the series will be remembered for the sets, the location shooting, the VR wall and the special effects. Considering Kovich's long career it's not implausible that he has something to do with the future events of the Short Trek. He gives Burnham that Red Directive device or whatever it is. Burnham mentions to Zora that she heard a name, which turns out to be the name of the person who finds Discovery in the future. I think they may be setting up a story that fleshes out the Short Trek. The question is which series could they pick up that story line? Maybe another Short Trek?

  21. I think SMG is amazing–love watching her as captain. I agree the season endings in STD rarely hit the mark (ending of S3 just f'd what could have been the best season ever, IMO). the Calypso epilogue…I have mixed feelings: on one hand, it shows us that MB and B live happily ever after. OTOH, it raises more questions unless they follow up with some additional story about Craft. The only thing truly disappointing is that near the season climax, when the crew is in the middle of a crucial mission, they will stop and have a heart to heart discussion about their childhood, their feelings, or something…hey folks, that's not professional!
