  1. Rom's character growth throughout the show is nothing short of incredible, and it's still in its infancy. One of the best things about DS9 is how much development all the side characters get – Rom, Nog, Garak, and others you haven't even met yet will all blow you away as the show continues.

  2. James T Kirk: Mr.Scott. Have you always multiplied your repair estimates by a factor of four?
Montgomery Scott: Certainly, Sir. How else can I keep my reputation as a miracle worker?
    ______________

Geordi: Yeah, well, I told the Captain I'd have this analysis done in an hour.
Scotty: How long would it really take?
    Geordi: An hour.
Scotty: Oh, you didn't tell him how long it would really take, did you?
Geordi: Well of course I did.
Scotty: Oh, laddie, you have a lot to learn if you want people to think of you as a miracle worker!

  3. I love this series because they bring issues of faith into the show. I also like the fact that the station is a place where people who are the black sheep, exist with others who are the black sheep. They belong there be a use they don't belong anywhere else.

  4. The question is why was the Obsidian Order trying to close the wormhole? A few episodes back they tried to frame a member of Central Command. Then it was revealed the Order is building advanced warships in the Orias System. So that is two things that acts in open defiance of the Central Command, upsetting an arrangement of 500 years standing. What is going on with the Obsidian Order? Hmmm.

  5. Of the other powers in the quadrant, Cardassians tend to be the most nuanced. Romulans and Klingons are pretty one-note most of the time, but what we see of Cardassians outside of Dukat and Garak is a wide-spectrum of personalities. They are the most like humans.

  6. I thought "Destiny" was a bit stronger than you did compared to the season average, I liked it a lot when I first saw season 3. Never properly seen "Prophet Motive" though I knew the plot. I like how we can go for an entire season without seeing the Prophets do the trippy effects from "Emissary" or the white background and heartbeat, but it can come back without warning and is instantly recognisable.

  7. Gilora Rejal is such a cutiepie! <3 I laughed so hard when Miles got scared and hurt himself a bit because she claimed to be quite furtile. The Borg should use that line next time: "Resistance is furtile!" 🙂 Also, Furrengi don't have orgasms, they have eargasms! 🙂

  8. I love "Destiny". I always like the idea of prophecies/premonitions coming true in a way that people don't expect. And Sisko-as-Emissary stuff is always intriguing.

"Prophet Motive" is mid-tier for me. The Prophets are acting a bit out-of-character imo, but—as you mentioned—I do like to see Rom standing up for himself a bit.

  9. For the record, my favourite two alien species in Star Trek are Cardassian, and Romulan, maybe the heavy use of Cardassians in DS9 is partly why this is my favourite Trek series.

  10. Destiny really does a lot to make Cardassians a lot more interesting by introducing civilians.
This is an aspect of the show that I would have loved to see get expanded into one of the main storylines.

  11. The actor who played the Vedic with the prophecy had many giggles with one of the crew, but managed to keep his straight composure in his scenes talking about the phophdcy. One of the actresses playing a Cardassian, between scenes wandered around the Paramount set in costume, and scared some kids because of her outfit lol.

  12. The "wormhole aliens" exist outside of normal spacetime. They don't experience time like humans or Bajorans do. And they can telepathically communicate to anyone in the local area of space near their wormhole home at any time, with knowledge they have from any time. These prophecies should not be so easily dismissed, considering the scientific facts involved.

Of course Sisko has a point too, these prophecies received by the Bajorans centuries before may very well have been mistranslated at some point. And they're written in such a poetical way, they're open to many possible (mis)interpretations.

  13. Great to see the bromance between Julian and Miles still growing.

Love that Odo and Dax are both playing the role of older brother in these episodes- giving wry advice to both Sisko and Julian.

The Peace Treaty Berial made is definitely a big story element this season.

  14. I don't know what it is but I love destiny, that is such a great episode there isn't anything bad in it, by the end you realize every single line of dialogue every single scene was important.

  15. So, what about Human / Cardassian relationships? My second marriage, (and subsequent divorce), was with a woman from another continent /country / culture / language group. As we were approaching our wedding day, I read some books about cross-cultural relationships and how to navigate some of the difficulties and communication issues that often arise due to differences in upbringing. I believe that cross-cultural, and in the case of Star Trek, cross-species relationships are workable if neither is too entrenched in their own experiences, and both are open to finding a "third option" or forging their own paths. Good, clear, concise communication is the key though.

  16. Destiny is a low-key important episode for Sisko and his understanding of his role as "the emissary". Never under appreciate the role that Bajoran spirituality plays in the overall series arc.

  17. I am entirely unashamed to admit I have a thing for Cardassian ladies.

They’ve had some stunners come through DS9 with the blue spoon.

Both this lady that crushes on O’Brien and Quark’s old flame Natima Lang were next level.
