I've been watching Star Trek for 50 years and Rom is the best of them all. His story unfolds so beautifully. He's the best!
Some really great episodes here that really get to the heart of Star Trek.
how could someone mix up something about the obsidian order and the homeworld of the founders… can't imagine any circumstance, in that this could be a thing…
Kai Winn, played by Louise Fletcher, is such a great character. Instead of playing her as a one note villain, Fletcher gives her all these layers and depth. You never know what she's really thinking or what her true motivations are. She's slimy and selfish on the surface but there are times where I almost felt sorry for her. She was interesting to try and read. Very similar to Garak. Great characters and acting!
The "silly red outfits" were also used in TNG B17 "Samaritan Snare" and E16 "Ethics"" ( Sorry, still used to using the old number format, letter for season followed by episode number)
This is the real start to Nog's character arc. Here ends the Ferengi boy who occasionally gets into hijinks in subplots with Jake, and the beginning of Nog's efforts to better himself by joining Starfleet. This is another prime example of DS9 not only having the best primary cast of characters, but a cast of secondary characters you care for as much as you do the regulars.

I remember watching your reaction to the pilot…You said something along the lines of "I hate the Ferengi" I knew it was going to be fun watching you change your mind.
2 seasons later, you've got a Quark shirt, and love Nog and Rom. And there are some banger Ferengi episodes coming!
"Life Support" was actually the 3rd time in the Star Trek universe where those disturbingly red surgical outfits showed up. They were in 2 TNG episodes, "Samaritan Snare" & one of my favorites "Ethics".
The entire story arc of all three Ferrengi throughout the series is phenomenal.
When you see them in season-7 and compare them to how they were back in season-1, its like night and day.
It's a very fun journey over the seasons. Even now in season-3, if you look back in the first season, you should be able to see the differences already. They get way better.

Nog's story was planned as the B story in Heart of Stone but it's so strong it's basically a second A story.
I kind of think The Sisko instantly regretted the admission he provoked from Nog about why he wanted to join starfleet.
I think the Nog story is actually the stronger one.
