Well it’s official: I’m a Steam Deck owner again. Today we take a look at the Steam Deck OLED and I ponder the path that led me back here. For some reason I compare it to the Nintendo Switch OLED. Don’t try to think too hard about it.

Questions, Comment or Hardware/Software review request?…

  1. Correction: My first Steam Deck was a 256GB model. I'm sure I will add more…
Also the OLED comparison is pretty much useless: If you dont have an OLED screen you likely don't have the color range to see it. Plus my aging iPhone SE prolly does not have that color range.
    ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  2. I'll have to continue resisting Steam Deck because the majority of my PC gaming play is through Epic. Why Epic? They have the exclusivity for the big mobile games' pc versions.

  3. Bought a deck, still hated Linux and Linux hated me still too so useless as soon as I left steamOS. Went for the Ally and absolutely love it. Best screen in a handheld to date. No problem with my sd slot but not docking and running my ally higher than 22w.
The Ally is so comfortable and windows touch isn’t half bad 😊

  4. I went from the original Steam Deck to an Ally to the Legion Go. Now I have an OLED Steam Deck coming Saturday. I'm taking a different approach in that pick up and play ability is more important to me than power. I found that I wouldn't use the Windows devices as often as I'd like because it takes so long to get in the game that I'd rather just fire up my desktop. I've used my switch way more because of this issue. The battery life is a pretty big deal and I'm also a sucker for anything OLED.

  5. I enjoy my Steam Deck but mine is crippled by the "Other Files" storage space issue. Every single game of mine is on a MicroSD yet the Deck builds a ton of files for each of those games on the internal HD. I bought the 64GB version and the "Other Files" takes up 28GB, which is crazy and doubly crazy since all the games are on external storage. The system should be smart enough to build the Other Files on the related SD cards.

  6. The Steam Deck Oled is just a better overall experience than the OG. I like the non glare display when I play my Switch Oled the reflective display can be a little annoying sometimes depending on the lighting. In your head to head with the Switch display I think the city and the night time sky looks better on the Steam Deck.

  7. Great review! Been thinking of getting an OLED model! Had an ROG Ally, sold it for the Legion Go, and then went back to the Ally, so I've had a similar story with these devices. I'm happy with my current Ally, but wouldn't mind getting a Steam Deck to try out along side my Ally as it's the only one I haven't fully tried yet!

  8. Nintendo should pay you to use this video to sell the switch… most people would rather just be able to pick it up and play. Not have to do all this tweaking unless you’re Miley Cyrus.🤪

  9. For me I've given up on the steam deck….My first experience was the 64 gb with shader cache taking all the room even with the 1tb sd card so I sold it for the 256gb which worked until….. The black screen of ☠️ death unresponsive even with the charger plug in. Sadly nothing I did could get my recently purchased steam deck to respond and come back on 😢.

No three strikes your out for me, I will just save up for the rog ally or legion go and go windows….I tried but failed with the steam deck but I'm happy you and others enjoying the deck.👍
