  1. CORRECTION: Please note that the two LCD models are actually 512 and not 256. This is important because all three models shown have anti-glare etched displays. Apologies for the editing flub.

  2. I have no buyer's remose because I wasn't able to buy a non-OLED Steam Deck until now. All those flights would've required a 3DS or nothing. Which is better? Nothing or something? EXACTLY! It's the opportunity cost. I'm definitely getting an OLED model. This is the one I wanted all along, but they didn't have the tech setup to do it before. None of this was proven to sell, and Valve's cost expectations changed significantly. Lastly, they sold the first gen Steam Deck during the tail end of a parts shortage, so everything here makes sense. I'd prefer to have an OLED model now rather than wait 2 years for an upgraded Steam Deck. I have another flight late January, and I can't wait to try out the new OLED model when it arrives!

  3. I bought an SD Oled 1 TB and I will Dell my SD LCD 512 GB for around 525 usd… So pay around 125-150 usd for the upgrade it totally worth it… For me the SD was a game changer to complement my PC so it it worth upgrade it with this awersome revisión and wait for the Steam Deck 2 that surely will take 2-3 years so will be a very good years with the ultimate steam deck experience

  4. One concern I have with this is long term use. OLED screens have a tendency to get burn in after a while. But in all honesty, I don't see why I should upgrade right now when I got the previous model only several months ago. Not to mention I got it from a user who added a 2TB SSD into the unit, so I'm good for the time being.

  5. Steamdeck 2 release in 2025 is very unlikely. Channel "Tested" recently interviewed Valve's Steamdeck Engineering team and the purpose of the OLED model upgrade was mostly fixing unwanted compromises made back in 2021 when the Manufacturing and Supply chain issue was severe. In short, to make the Steamdeck "Age Well" over long time. Focus in low power consumption rather than performance was also for the same design philosophy.

According to the "Tested" channel Valve team interview, Steamdeck 2 will not happen unless there is a significant CPU/GPU architecture change in the industry. In other words, not any time soon. Also the team added in the end, they are testing out various manufacturing and Supply chain, logistics matters with their partner companies through this Steamdeck OLED launch. The things they've learned will be applied for their future VR product development, they said.

This combined with the recent rumors from the VR industy, the next Valve hardware product is likely to be the new Valve VR headset. The Steamdeck engineering team is likely to be shifting focus to the VR hardware next.

  6. Ha, it's not as easy to sell a used Steam Deck as you make it sound. Listed mine on eBay, Mercari, and Swappa, and no luck. Even has an upgraded 1TB SSD and still no luck.

  7. Me personally I DESPISE anything glossy so the 1 TB OLED is 100% worth it in my case. Can't wait to buy it in a couple of months when I can actually afford it!
