  1. "Everyone clearly has had a chance to get it". Yeah, except that they a) only sell it in the US and Canada and b) force you into the store of your own country, so you also cannot import it. I was on the fence since I really did like that color scheme and the 1tb ssd would have saved me doing the upgrade myself. On the other hand I want my OLED to be as glossy as possible…

  2. I'm getting some trouble with my official dock, wondered if anyone can help??

In desktop mode, if I open big picture mode, games output at 60fps. But when I switch back to game mode, I get a 30fps cap?? What's going on???

  3. Oh, I saw PWM effects on other videos, especially when they demonstrated the lowest brightness while playing in bed.
That is a really huge bummer. Luckily, I do not get headache using low PWM devices, but it is usually not comfortable.
Hopefully, they will address this issue in Deck 2.0, when they hopefully add VRR capable controller to displays as well.

TBH, kinda sours my willingness to click that order button. I mean every other upgrade like better thermals, speakers, joystick etc. is incredible, but I hoped they avoided PWM issues 🙁

PS: Most of the phones runs PWM on much higher frequency, just to avoid this issue. Some even likes to slap a sticker like eye care on their devices.

  4. I was originally annoyed thinking the only change was the oled but the battery life, fast charge, weight reduction, and wifi 6e chip plus the oled checked all the boxes i wished the steamdeck originally shipped with, plus the limited edition was too good to pass up. Definitely a stupid financial decision and no one should do it but god damn im excited

  5. Ooooooh, yeah, purple!

Orange wouldn't be my first choice.

I've heard the noise from this is better, but still bad versus Asus' Ally? I REALLY hate a lot of fan noise, even more so if it's in your face like this.

PS4 Pro (at least my unit) is about my limit (launch PS4 was a disaster), and even then I might hate it if it made that much noise right next to my head instead of 4 feet away or whatever.

I prefer Windows for better game compatibility, prefer more power for a longer useable lifespan, but still this thing is cool and tempting…

The screen flicker is worrying too…

My iPhone 13 doesn't bother me, but I don't know if it flickers or not.

  6. Does the OLED screen on the Steam Deck offer the same advantage in input latency reduction/input lag of the built in controls as compared to a LCD version as we are seeing this advantage with OLED tv's and monitors on the desktop side of things?

  7. Still the weaker mainstream handheld pc BUT, Value is one of the major players so this means others will try to one-up Value by putting an oled high refresh screen on their next devices. Can't wait for Asus' next Rog Ally. Still my favorite handheld pc Steam Deck 2nd.

  8. Not worth the upgrade if you’ve spent more than a year waiting for steam decks to show up locally and then you get around to making the decision to spend $800 on a 64GB model for this to come out less than two months later

  9. My dad and I talked about tech with each other all the time and I told him on Saturday at a hockey game how pumped I was to see you come out with a video for the OLED version. I have a software development degree and he was an IT security guy. He passed away this morning and I can't bring myself to watch your video, but thank you for being a part of the reason I got to spend more time with my dad.

  10. Something I haven't seen talked about is that SteamOS 3.5 finally went Stable last night, likely to coincide with the OLED Decks starting to ship out.

Not only does it bring support for HDR on external displays and a badly needed update to the software stack, but it's now possible to install system software without touching the read-only file system, thanks to the new /nix partition.

I spent today wiping my Steam Deck to get rid of all the weird hacks and workarounds I've done over the past year and got two full desktop environments working and launchable from within Gaming Mode (so basically the only reason to boot to Desktop Mode is to add new launcher items).

My big complaint about the Deck is that it fell short of being a true Cyberdeck capable of General-purpose computing. That's 💯 negated now.

  11. I'll watch your review to support your content, but I already ordered my Steam Deck OLED and I can't wait to get it. And I just sold my regular steam deck on Facebook Marketplace so I got some money back. But either way, or watch your review and enjoy the content. Saw you on nerdness so want to see what you do on your own page

  12. I thought the OG deck speakers were terrible hopefully these are better. They were clear and you could hear everything but it wasn’t loud enough
