The Steyr GB is a double-action 9Γ—19mm Parabellum caliber, large-framed semi-automatic pistol employing a gas-delayed blowback action. As such the GB abbreviation stand for Gasbremse (gas brake). The weapon went into general civilian production in 1982, and in 1988 production ceased.

  1. This was a very advanced gun for it's time, and modern tools and tooling made possible the tight tolerances to allow for it to work as a gas-delayed blowback in high-production manufacture. It was about this time that a guy nobody had ever heard of named Gaston Glock brought out the first polymer-framed pistol and the rest is history.
