  1. That gas regulator is known as a “zero pressure governor”. It should not allow gas flow into the engine intake until the sense line senses vacuum from the engine when cranking. The governor valve maintains the gas flow to always be slightly below manifold vacuum. The solenoid valve is a backup to assure no gas flow is possible unless the engine is running

  2. Hey Sam, get some Molly based dry lubricant and spray all the the sections of the boom really well. That's what we used to lubricate the booms on telehandlers when I worked in the forklift industry. It clings to the surfaces really well, and doesn't collect dirt.

  3. Great diagnosis and repair. The sellers will want their crane back when they see how a well it is running with some basic maintenance and a few repairs.

  5. The sequencing process of your thinking is what needs to be instilled in today's apprentice technitians. Simply removing and replacing parts is only 1/2 of what needs to be learned. It is so sad that high schools throughout America don't understand the need to teach a saleable skill to our kids. This is a perfect example of the thought process involved in fixing anything. Not everyone is going to sit in front of a computer screen.
