  1. I like that it's not too bright, headlights in a lot of cars have gotten so excessively bright it's almost dangerous.

Matrix lights take some time to register oncoming cars and turn off the lights, if I'm going through a hairpin turn I don't want it to be so bright the oncoming car is completely blinded by the time it manages to turn off.

Also it's good that the lights turn off in cities and around streetlights, light pollution is a real issue and if it isn't needed it really shouldn't be on. When you're driving around residential areas you don't want to shoot highbeams into houses, and blinding pedestrians/cyclists, below 30 km/h highbeams really aren't needed anyways as lowbeams already cover way past your stopping distance at those speeds.

  2. Funny fact that the first car in front pulled over because was blinded to much. Maybe the weather conditions were to bad but I could not see any different to auto high beam. No curve light, no corner light, no masking of traffic signs. And you need new wipers.

  3. Can the Highland actually write Tesla on the wall? I heard someone claimed only the older model will do that. The Highland lights doesn’t have the same resolution. Has anyone tested?

  4. i dont personally mind the number of projections the module does, bcuz i prefer less modules and fast response, i mind if headlights are bright and deep enough..both aspects can be fixed by software if this leds are dimmable. For now we can actually appreciate the effort tesla is putting in finally releasing matrix functions.

  5. Tested it for over 400km as I got soo many flashes from trucks from the opposite side. I don't know how good is for normal cars, but certainly not working as intended for bigger/taller trucks.
Also, sometimes, if there are multiple signs, especially in areas where construction is happening, it goes APE sh1t due to the reflection. Goes on/off like crazy over and over.

I eventually turned it off. I was excited but in the end it needs a LOT of work.

Then again, I've never drove cars with adaptive headlights, so wtf do I know…

  6. This type of lighting system is incredible, but the price that comes with them is outrageous. I’m not just talking about Tesla, BMW, Toyota, Mercedes are all doing the same thing. They are milking their customers to the tune of 3€500-€5000 to replace these types of lights, please remember this price is only the product. This has nothing to do with the installation and reprogramming that it works with your vehicle. This price is only for one headlight which means if you have to replace both of them, it’s double the punch. Who would ever imagine that we would pay up to 8,000 to 10,000 just to replace headlights. I guess that’s what they call a game changer.

  7. Just did a long night drive in sweden with the highland. Agree. The lights are sorta… anemic? But the adaptive matrix light stuff works great.
Now im just waiting for auto wiper improvements 💀

  8. Recommendation @Bjørn Nyland. When testing lights, do a repeatable test at a fixed exact location so you can make comparisons, similar concept as your excellent charging tests / races. Keep you the good work 🙂

  9. The non-Highland will be way better as the headlights are way better. They have way more Matrix-zones, they are generall brighter, have a better spread and can even be shifted to left or right if Tesla does it right.
Shozld be coming soon, Tesla even officially stated this already. And it will be a free update for 3Refresh, Y, S&X

  10. Now that it seems that 2021-2023 Model 3 and Model Y will get adaptive headlights in an upcoming update – do you consider that they will actually have better lights than the Highland?

I blew 11.000,- on a Lazer Elite for my Y at Bilkomponenter on Thursday, thanks to your videos, so the update is probably just around the corner haha 😂

  11. These matrix lights aren't the ones that can write tesla on the wall. Highland won't be able to do that. The old Model 3/Y and current S/X have a much higher resolution matrix arrangement than highland, which allows for writing "tesla".

  12. I've noticed auto high beams typically turn off around ~<25mph because that's the residential speed limit, and the idea is that you don't want to be blasting houses with your high beams, or blinding pedestrians that may be more likely to be out walking in residential areas.
