  1. Great video. 4:10 One of the biggest reasons that Intel went with the slotted cpus is to increase yields. Defective cache on the die of a traditional processor meant the entire thing was trashed. Likewise, the defect might have been just on the cpu and have a perfectly fine memory cache, yet still it would have to be failed. Processing these separately had the benefit of allowing Intel to put the cache memory off the die and onto the pcb.

  2. You'll need the Intel chipset drivers. I assume you have an Intel 440LX/440BX chipset onboard. The drivers for the older Intel chipsets can be obtained from Vogons Drivers.
You can also google "Intel 800 Series Integrated Chipset, v. 2.00, A01".

The first result should direct you to Dell's download page. Ignore the title, the package also contains drivers for the 440LX/440BX chipset your system very likely has.

Also enable the Direct Memory Access (DMA) for your hard drive and the optical drive, doing so will increase the read/write speeds. This can be done in the Device Manager, just double click your hard drive and the dialog box should contained the check box
