  1. Tipping in general is bad. Just pay your workers a decent wage. Don't give me that rubbish that it will cost too much and no one will buy from you. Its the same once tips are taken into account anyway. Tips should only be for exception service, not just doing the base minimum.

  2. youtube shorts has a persistent bug with the progress bar during a video, it disappears and reappears in a handful of different ways, partially rolling up sometimes works, more often pausing will bring up the progress bar, but they can also just never appear. is it a bug and an experiment?

  3. hmm, my comment from yesterday about HBO max is gone, I was basically showing what their email said but without any personal info in it:

On December 5, 2023, some of your features in the Max app will change. You can still stream all your favorite blockbuster movies, fresh originals, and iconic series.

    Here’s what to expect:

    Current Features: Ad-Free Plan

Stream on 3 devices at once

Full HD video resolution with select titles in 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos

Download up to 30 titles to watch on the go

    New Features: Ad-Free Plan

Stream on 2 devices at once

    Full HD video resolution

Download up to 30 titles to watch on the go

guess this means that "New" now means "Less", also note to self, next time copy/pasta into notepad first to avoid any stupid formatting BS that other apps force into text.

  4. My eyes went to check how my brain was doing when we reached another episode of "apple is crap", "Windows is crap", "I'm suspicious of people liking Windows". Sure gramps, I'll get off your lawn. Sometimes I forget why I don't watch The L1S. Doesn't take long to be reminded.

  5. Once I started getting the popups I tried purging/updating origin but after getting them a few more times I signed out of my Google accounts.

I only use 3rd party clients now be it Android, Android TV, or Windows. Not had a single pop up since.

I really don't care what length Google is willing to go, I'm stubbern enough to die on this hill. I gave up official sources, and I'll give up the platform all together if I must.

  6. 19:40 I did the math too, an EV would save me about 1000 AUD a year but not none of them are designing or making plans for economical battery swaps in the future so I can keep my gasoline car almost indefinitely and lose 1000 a year OR outlay 40,000 to save 1000 a year for about 10 years before I need to pay 20,000 to replace the battery.
New types of batteries might change that calculation but I doubt they will ever leave the laboratory just like solid state batteries, sodium batteries, batteries that run on hopes and dreams or reliably reversible iron oxide batteries.

  7. T-Mobile honored their grandfathered pricing for a long time, than they refused to do so (at least automatically removing it unless you complain) only for shortly later them airing commercials how their 4G/5G wireless home internet costs $xx.xx a month and WILL NEVER INCREASE!!! EVER !! FOREVER PRICING!!!

    Ok T-Mobile

  8. A lot of the consumer moisture meters don't actually measure moisture. They try to pass current between sensors, however this is extremely soil dependent.

In our region you get a lot of fine pine bark, along with compost for garden bed mix. This stuff measures basically the same dry, as it does dripping wet. Moisture meters work best with extremely fine/easily compacting soils/soiless media like peat.

Not so well with more course blends unfortunate so they are not always useful in every region. I still trust my finger more to measure moisture takes some trial, and error but it hasn't done me wrong yet.

  9. That Apple dig to India reminds me of a Corvette E-Ray article from last month. The reviewer was going over the cons of the car saying how easy it would have been to do but unfortunately the cars are made in Kentucky. lol
