  1. John, I know you are not interested in a young avengers movie but what about a Disney plus series were each episode Kate Bishop and Kamala Khan are recruiting another member. It could work. Light hearted action and could really have good episodes recruiting Antmans daughter, Hulks son, maybe the kid from falcon and winter soldier. Then if it does good lead into a movie with even Peter Parker as the lead of a young avengers. Or you could go with the story that Marvel did as an animated movie in which the avengers were killed by ultron expect for Tony who had to hide all the young avengers from ultron. If you haven’t seen it it’s actually really good

  2. I think changing it up a bit , by making charles and magneto black, i know it would be a drastic change , but if you get actors like (denzel washington as magneto, giancarlo esposito as xavier) i think it could work especially because you could still have denzel naintain the jewish heritage, and on top of that maybe they couldve seen how harshly people like them were treated in the 1950s or whatever

  3. 1) Carol was wearing the 2nd bangle at the end

    2) I also enjoyed the movie more on 2nd viewing. The plot and stakes felt stronger (stealing the Earth's sun is a big deal)

    3) Not seeing the aftermath of Aladna, The Singing planet's destruction on its survivors (if there were any) was disappointing, I agree.

  4. The only thing I liked about the movie was the end credit scene. It gave promise to opening up a new way of doing MCU movies moving forward… to use alternate multiverses to tell a story without having to explain regular MCU character deaths or damaging world events (Celestial in the ocean). Each movie can be an MCU reset, and they can include new teams (FF, X-Men) without an explanation.

  5. The Marvels was one of the worst movies I've ever seen and I've seen a lot. I definitely don't say these kind of things easily especially with superhero movies…Maybe I'm quite harsh but even I went with no expectations this was nothing, I mean zero that I was expecting to see….

  6. One of my pet peeves across all media formats is when a reporter, tv analyst, content creator, etc doesn't do the proper research to understand the proper pronunciation of a name. In this instance Jon doesn't remember the name which is just as bad.

Is it that hard to be a professional these days? Take the 15 seconds to Google the name and pronunciation, then document your notes PRIOR to going live or recording a segment. Joking that you don't remember a name, or mispronouncing it purposely for a laugh does not hide the lack of respect for your craft. You can literally get the spelling, pronunciation, biblical references, etc in less than a minute. It's never a wise idea to make it up as you go.

  7. The media keeps focusing on the box office, but the movie itself was pretty good. It was better than Thor Love & Thunder and Antman Quantumania for sure. I think the main problem was that it focused on "The Marvels" when it should have been marketed as Captain Marvel 2. Brie deserved a proper sequel since a lot of people didn't watch the Disney+ shows like Ms. Marvel or WandaVision so people weren't familiar with these other Marvels.

  8. The singing planet didn't work to me. Kamala's parents were annoying especially the moms. Besides those things it was a pretty decent flick. Ms. Marvel stole show for me

  9. I love Shang Chi and am excited to see him, yet I'm surprised you keep mentioning how we haven't seen or heard anything from him since. We met the MCU's Hulk in 2008 and didn't see him again for 4 years, and that's when they only had a handful of characters to juggle. Black Panther from introduction to next appearance – two years. The Guardians – 3 years.

I feel like we are in an age of instant gratification and entitlement that we can't let the story unfold and enjoy the journey.

  10. Solid story told badly, is 100% correct, the Carole/Dar-Benn conflict had elements of Joel/Abby from the Last of Us 2. The Hala decimation was like the fall of Rome (Gives Ronans action more depth). So much potetntial, but baby flurkens…all good!

  11. The jump rope scene was double dutch and if you were a little black girl in the 70s and 80s you always had a friend that wouldn't go right in. It hit me in my soul I loved it so much.

  12. Two thoughts about this conversation.
    1) I thought Cap. Marvel was able to enter the sun because she had one of the bangles, that's way she had it on at the house. They should have made that more clear thought.
    2) am I remembering incorrectly but didn't Cap. Marvel showed up at the end of Shang-Chi talking about the rings and that she was going to investigate? I thought someone in the superchats said she didn't know about the rings…

  13. Captain Marvel could have flown into that star (it's not the sun) from the very start and prevented the ruckus years ago. All she need was some base-level scientist to let her know this would be the fix.

  14. This is the first Marvel movie in a long time that I’ve loved. Of the post-endgame movies I would put only Shang-Chi and No Way Home above it, with Guardians 3 right below. I can’t believe the negativity around this film, I question if I saw the same movie as everyone because I had a blast. I agree with John’s suggestion of moving the flashbacks into a scene at the beginning instead, but it still worked as is. It could have used an extra 15 minutes to let some scenes breath and it would have been great.

The only other criticism I have is Valkrie showing up. It felt like fanfiction. We’ve never seen these characters interact together, and Carol says other planets needed her, but also now she has time for a girlfriend on Earth?
