  1. Sounds like a Spenser Sakurai video. Today, you can shoot a film with budget gear that looks as good as the pros. It's a wonderful thing. I worked on a film recently(VFX artist) that shot with an ARRI Alexa Mini and Atlas Orion Anamorphics which were soft lenses with magenta fringing. That look can be achieved for a fraction of the cost. Most important is how you use the gear, not what gear you use! BorrowLenses can make it even easier on your budget!

  2. I Got the 3 lens kit – and they are well built and I must say that the focus and t stop ring are very comfortable to use. However, I would say focus throw could be longer. I mount them on my Canon r5c RF mount. – so for example 24mm is closer to being a 35mm. For the price, they are super nice.

  3. Nice video. Thank you. I don't do cinematography or videography, and I don't own the Sirui lenses, but I do own Samyang/Rokinon cine lenses – 8mm, 24mm, 35mm and 85mm. To be quite honest, my exposure to cine lenses at first was purely budget related. Adorama had a sale on the 24mm and 35mm about a month apart, each for less than $200, so I jumped on them, not really knowing what I was buying, but I have no regrets.

I shoot primarily nighttime astrophotography, so shooting in manual mode is fine with me. I've found I have an affinity for the cine lenses. One thing I've found with cine lenses is that the leeway with focusing is more generous than with traditional still lenses. With many still lenses, even with the focus ring taped off or locked, an incidental bump to the lens can knock it out of focus, but the cine lenses seem to be a little more forgiving and will stay in focus.

  4. I dig your videos. You're responsible for me buying gear I don't really need and I commend you for that. There's one thing that bothers me, however, and it sounds nitpicky because, well, it is… it's the number of times you say "sort of". It's peppered through all of your videos. You say it a lot. I mean A LOT.
