  1. I replaced the battery on my series 4 myself last May and it's been much better. Was a difficult replacement but way cheaper buying the tools and battery from ifixit than getting a whole new watch.

  2. Still on Series 3! Barely lasts a day (also use it for sleep tracking) but I don't want to replace it because it's the ceramic version. Thinking of getting a battery service before they declare it obsolete.

  3. Apple has a history of denying repair/replacement on an Apple Watch where the battery swells up and ejects the screen. But I have been able to get them to repair two of them that did this same thing so far, where the swollen battery pushed off the screen. These were both a Series 3 cellular watch, and were fixed outside of warranty for only $85. I had given these to my daughter, and the last repair 18 months ago just had the screen pop off again; so I'm giving her my old Series 5 that was replaced under AppleCare and has a 100% battery. My Series 6 still has over 90% battery remaining, and crossing fingers the screen doesn't pop off anytime soon.

  4. 7:16 water resistance is never guaranteed not just on repairs. They are certified but you don't get warranty on water resistance/damage. That's why all electronics have water damage indicators to void claims. The repair technician is just open and honest about it while big corporations aren't.

  5. you could still be covered under australian consumer law depending on the price you paid and the expected life of the product (it helps that apple offers 5 years software support)/ yes I know your not Australian, just making it known to those in similar circumstances

  6. I bought a used series 5 about one year after its release and still use it daily. Tough Batteryhealth is only at 80%. But i would rather replace the battery until its no longer really supported then to buy a new one.

  7. I just paid $80 USD for a repair by mail to replace the battery on my 1st generation Apple Watch SE. I’m curious where the repair shop sourced the battery from – I suspect it is not a genuine Apple part, because the battery life is not great (13 hours compared to Apple’s stated 18?), and the first time I charged it, it took at least 7 hours to get to 100%. Oh well. Not sure the repair was worth it.
