  1. Mate I was cringing all the way through that with the knife, what happened to the wagos just to test them first and they should be connected to a fuse spur not a plug

  2. I would certainly recommend the Knipex ergostrip for flex. Fairly expensive but a god send when preparing flexible cables. It would last a lifetime for the amount of use you would give it. Definately worth its price point

  3. the amount of times I've put the IP65/strain relief insert the wrong way round, the moment you put it on the wrong way I was wondering how far you'd get before realising. Installed a fair few bits of external IP CCTV cameras, sometimes it is far easier to just attack from the other end instead, 👍nice fix

  4. March 2004 saw amendment 2 to British Standard BS 7671 (Requirements for Electrical Installations). Probably the most significant change introduced for the diyer was the change of colour coding of electric cable. The new coloured cables are referred to as harmonised cables – the colours are harmonised across the EU.

  5. black is only ground for d.c these days. gonna need to go back to houses that were last wired in the late 70's to find red and black ac wires. (and even then when it comes to a ring circuit. black is probably live at some point.)

  6. Brown, Black & Grey are all considered live in the UK & EU. They replaced Red, Yellow & Blue. Black went from being a neutral to a live and Blue went from being a live to a neutral.
