~ it’s so much more comfortable to watch and listen when someone is just being real, so much better than when you can see all the little editing marks and jerks. I want to see someone in real time not speed it up which just makes it seems so tense and hurried. Nice job, Rob.
Awesome video. This style falls inline with live streams. When you press that button it's you, live and raw… bloopers, tech glitches, and all… good, bad, and sometimes very ugly 😂. Been there. Done that… hundreds of times, literally. But still fun
I laughed so much. Not at you but at the end where you show the mistakes. It was so cute. So natural. So human. I really enjoy your channel. Amazing.
Another great video! Very inspirational!
8.4k views in 2 days? You are click bait. Apparently this isn't taking YouTube by storm but you are trying to stay relevant. Hyperbole is killing useful content.
Very nice video! I’m a new YouTuber & you really encouraged me! Thank you!! 😁👍🏼
Thanks so much for the video. I just subscribed. I have gotten into the habit of using a Teleprompter and it has actually been too much of a crutch because when I go live without a script i am hard on myself.
Anyway i appreciate you. Thx again.
You're confusing 'editing' with 'delivery' style.
Thank you for this video, I want my channel to be authentic “real conversations about life after 50”. My why gets lost and my message gets lost in the editing and attempt to follow all the YT rules. At the end, I’ve lost the quality of the message. Thank you.
Keep doing your thing Rob, you continue to be a big source of inspiration for so many
I love your channel!!!
This is interesting because I've been doing that type of talking to the camera style since I started doing YouTube. But I'm not seeing any benefit or increase in views from doing that style.
Great video ! I am way over 40 and working hard on my channel. Is great to see others my age out here doing this. I am learning everything myself and just going step by step. At about 840 subs as of today and hoping to get monetized quickly. Doing 1 video a week and trying to get 1% better each time. Love doing this ! Your video was. Wry encouraging. Thank you !
Press record never forget😊
Thank you
Ahh I was thinking I'm the only one that tries to start 100 times! Glad to see I'm not alone!!
Omg love the bloopers!
Great Video!
I’m glad to see this because I never used a script and was thinking about doing so then all these videos started showing up. I’ve been streaming for 11 years on another platform. Streaming is always LIVE so when I recently came to YouTube I thought I may need script even though I’m naturally good with free styling it
For once we’re ahead of the curve! We’re over 40 (over 50) have a YouTube channel and everything we do is unscripted 😆
It reminds me of the “story time” era which is when I got super into watching YouTube. I’m glad this style is coming back!
Hello. I'm a newbie to your channel. I absolutely agree that it's hyper important to be natural and authentic, otherwise it shows very quickly. In fact all of my subscriptions are on those sorts of channels but, if I may offer some considered constructive criticism for your YouTube path (from someone trained in public speaking), I also think you need to also be careful not to repeat yourself. You very nearly lost me when authenticity came up for the third time. Now I'm off to watch another of your videos 👍
PS: Take a look at Jen of Silver and Solo who has nailed this type of video whilst being eloquent, interesting and mostly to the point.
The only thing that has kept me off of YouTube is the editing process. I bought lots of equipment and having good equipment. I'm not working full time right now so I truly have time.
I need to get a T.V cat or a muppet
GREAT video, Rob. If you were going four "authentic," you NAILED it. Well done, sir.
Congrats on having hit the jackpot, Rob! That's awesome, so glad you found just being yourself is the key and I couldn't agree more, my dude! Ok, so based on all of this, I should be KILLING IT on youtube, haha! I'm deep into my 40s and never scripted, constantly mess up what I'm saying and then not caring enough to edit it out or making a point to highlight and zoom in on my mishaps😆But I do tend to edit more than I should but that's mostly to cut out all my extra long rambles when I go off on a tangent that gets way too long 😉 I'm trying to chill out on that so I can upload more often without spending 16 hours editing a 30 min video. The ROI of my time and energy really isn't worth it.
I’ve just started my channel and I think this is instinctively my style. Certainly plenty of ‘mistakes’ but I’ve started out saying that I’m learning as I go 😊👍🏻
I do like this video! Sharing it
Thank you so much.
This video came at the absolute perfect time. Thank you!!!
I have been thinking so long to this style of video. Not much edits, no fx, no subtitles, nothing.
Thanks to you, Im gonna try!
Thank You
Literally love your vibe my man. I identify woth your struggles so much! Dont stop! Im 36 and just trying to get into YouTube. Im Divorced and have become only a part time father, my girls sont get to see me much and i want to make sure i put out content so they can always look back to see us together.
Yes! It’s great seeing authenticity ! I share my mix-ups or stutters cuz I like to show imperfection so others don’t feel you need to be perfect!
It’s very true. My latest video…even tho I edited the ums out I didn’t script it. Just authenticity spoke in beginning. Even my voice overs. Left the mistakes.
I've had a channel for years where I just store my unlisted tutorials; and I just made my first official video a couple weeks ago, and I was so hard on myself. I was like oh no I'm breathing in the mic! 😂 This is so helpful and great to hear. Thank you!
I love the bloopers and I love your cat! I’m almost 46 and I’ve been thinking about starting a YouTube channel. This was really encouraging and inspiring!
Sooo good! Thanks and best regards from Germany 😊
You're adorable! New sub
Great video! In times of systemic disconnection, people crave connection. Less edited videos give the viewer a sense of listening to a more relatable person.
Interesting to watch, we make reviews of journeys on different airplanes and I often sound more authentic when I'm in reality despite being surrounded by 100's of people than when I am on the microphone.
My partner says I come across like a news reporter 🤣but I think this could be down to annunciating the words so they don't get lost.
You're doing so well to speak on camera! Who's the cute cat behind you? 😸
So many times my video has shut off while recording…it’s a bummer! Love your style. I have a small channel and have similar problems with my dogs snoring and tech difficulties Lol!
I wonder if it’s because of a lot of AI videos I’ve come across lately that use a lot of stock videos and robotic voice overs. This new video style of yours is refreshing to watch and is encouraging to me. (I had a different channel, but quit making videos. I was up to 4 but already had edit-burnout. 😂
Love your authenticity.
