Canon has opened C-Log 3 on this camera! For me it's a big deal! A crop frame with Clog 🔥What do you guys think of the Canon R7? lemme know 👇
If you take aircraft photographs……FORGET IT!!!! The Rolling Shutter results are dreadfull! Sent mine back!
I was so closed to getting the 90D and last min went R7 instead.
Does canon have a histogram now in video? Previously they were the only major mfg without it
Good content but man oh man the music in the first few minutes sounds like a guitar that's out of tune 😭
You forgot to mention the Mechanical and Electronic Shutter.
Thanks for a great review! I've owned the R7 for a bit over a year now and I love it…and it's refreshing to hear others refer to this camera as "professional" and not simply an "enthusiast" camera just because it has a crop sensor.
The R7 has a lot going for it. No doubt about it!
However, there are a few things I don't like…
First, why did Canon feel it necessary to give the R7 a unique control layout? I'm sure I could become accustomed to it, but I use both APS-C and full frame cameras, switching between them as needed, and prefer they share the same ergonomics and control layout. In the past it has been easy to combine Canon FF and APS-C in my kit, as they were very similar in hand (for example… 7D series and 5D series… very minor differences.)
I also use a battery grip on most of my cameras. I like the vertical controls and often utilize the extra battery capacity. There is no provision for a grip on the R7. That really strikes me as odd, because the R7's footprint is similar to the R5/R6/R6II's… so it seems like it would have been simple to design the R7 to share the BG-R10 that's available for those cameras.
Shooting sports alot, I also worry about rollling shutter issues. Of course, I can avoid most of that just by using the mechanical or 1st curtain shutter. But that means a max of 15 frames/sec., rathet than the 30 fps the R7 can do with its electonic shutter. Still, 15 fps is very respectable. But it's a shame the 30 fps is somewhat compromised… and the mechanical and 1st curtain shutters also aren't silent, like the electronic shutter.
Canon needs to realize there are pros who choose to use APS-C and offer cameras that appeal to them. Maybe when Nikon comes out with their mirrorless D500, Canon will have to respond with an R7 Mark II that addresses some of these shortcomings.
My "complaints" are relatively minor, rather specific to my particular uses, and would not be issues that effect most people's enjoyment of the camera. I still consider the R7 a superb camera loadednwith great features that allow it to meet and exceed most user's needs.
Great video, but you need IFTS. (In-Frame Table Stabilization)
I want to switch to mirrorless, but I have some EF DSLR lenses. So I will need an adapter. Any recommendations?
70-200 is an EF lens that u r mounting with an adapter is it? If so how's the performance with auto focus?
I’ve just recently begun my photography/video journey and purchased the Canon R6 MII… definitely overkill given I’m an absolute novice, however it’s a camera I absolutely love and will be a wonderful camera to have even when I’m more advanced in my ability. Should I ever wish to own a second camera body, the R7 would probably be my choice for sure
The Canon R7 is everything I wanted the Canon 90D and Canon 80D to be
This camera R7 has lots of problems with the focus. Don't waste your money.
I need a camera for shooting dance short videos for YouTube & Instagram reels. 2nd, I'm a teacher so we need to teach online on digital board or smart panel of 75 inch.
I need a camera which can give me outstanding video quality for my reels short videos of dance & 2nd can record teaching videos of around 1 hours as we teach online.
Please suggest a best video camera which can give quality like pro camera in minimum investment.
Currently considering canon R7 & canon r10 by looking price
Very confused after knowing about canon r8 so which one to buy I really don't know.
I have a Lenovo thinkbook laptop of 8gb ram so I want a camera with outstanding video which can be edited in 8gb ram laptop.
What I have heard is Full camera camera creates very bigger size so it cannot be edited in 8gb Lenovo ThinkPad or thinkbook laptop.
Kindly guide me please as I'm your old user & very confused & not able to understand what to do.
Moto is minimum investment & want pro camera like videos as only video work I need to do.
Full frame camera does really create very heavy files so it cannot be edited in normal 8gb ram Laptop?
Want best video camera in minimum price please help.
Canon r7 or Nikon z6 ii?
I picked up an R7, 18-150mm, and 35mm f/1.8 to replace my M5 hiking kit. Yikes! There's been a bit of progress since the M5 came out. Just wish I could keep my M lenses.
Thinking about upgrading from a canon rebel t7 to canon r7
Thanks. That was an excellent review full of useful pros and cons to consider.
Hey bro can I use r7 for food, real estate, instagram reels?
Would you recommend this for sports video like soccer ?
I picked up r7 this month and loving this camera! For me, perfect combo of features and image quality for video and photos! No complaints 😂
Hi, i was wondering what camera did you use to record your video?
Find an excellent camera with zero zoom
lenses
I will buy it as a 16 year old videographer and photographer. I will also buy the 16mm 1.8 lens.
Awesome review Kai! I honestly can't keep with all the new releases from Canon, I'm so behind on them! This looks great for the price though, with the clog, dual camera slots, and the ibis looks decent too, I'm just not sure on spending that much for a crop sensor. A used r6 might be a better choice IMO. Anyways, top review as always!
we need a comparison with the canon r8 brother
wobbly table
luv the fact that they have put clog3 on this
I've just been using the R for now and it has clog on it too (I know it's a full frame 🤪) but the 4k crop is kinda annoyin 🙄
Clog on a crop frame, this is most definitely Canon trying to keep up with the competition
Thanks Kai great to see the long form review videos again 🤩
nice video kai🤗
