  1. Hey SMT! Really glad you got the RS11 running! All that internal stuff isn't my fault was like that when I got it 🙂 I was trying to figure out the coupler situation and that's when I gave up. I was thinking about cutting off the ends of the trucks and body mounting a box to the frame???

  2. Ahearn band drive engines use a #8 latex band. If you can get synthetic bands that's better, and a '10 band will work without the extra tension. A #8 band is 1" or2.54 cm. A #10 is 1.25" or if you can find any a "27 band is twice as wide, and still th same length . You can find rubber band size charts from 4 or more makers of common sizes online. Info: when measuring a band for size. Pull each end til it goes rea.ively flat without stretching it, then put it up against a rule to find its size.

  3. A few months ago I bought a box of somewhat workable engines. I found an old box that had been short of any packing, an old metal European hook and loop coupler engine. It has the overhead electric contact. But has no motor. Small it is, but quite heavy. I have no idea who made it, I will give a go, and see if any motors I have can be adapted.

  4. Idea I use, if you have anyone using medications. A lot of the clear or semi-clear bottles work great for odd spare parts. I get things like a cellphone that won't work with the new 5G systems, speakers and screws. Just make sure there aren't any pills stuck inside.

  5. I showed up as you were signing off this time. I watched the recorded version, and I would have saved you from the wire crossover, but it made for good entertainment. Wish I was there, Jersey Bill

  6. SMT – The TV commercial for Tyco U.S. 1 Electric Trucking Set might be on You Tube. I think the name "Tyco" was coined from "Tyler Company" – the Tyler brothers who founded Mantua and created Tyco for beginner model railroaders.

  7. Harrison, Life-Like never went out of business. All of Life-Like products were purchased by Walthers outright. All life-like products went to Walthers. The Life-Like Proto 2000 for the price they were best in so many categories. Tyco never produced locos or rolling stock anything close to Proto 2k or 1k. Before the Proto lines Life-like was on par with Tyco, AHM the low end of design. Athearn were best of the budget brands. Proto 2k eclipse Athearn, and Proto 1k matched Athearn.
