These capacitors are so nasty that I am going to just twist them off this board. This is the main video card from a Sony BVM 1316 CRT Monitor.

The BVM is one of my favorites! Love how modular it is with those cartridges in the back.
Is that the sound of your dog walking across the floor?

That board has some serious leakage. Looks like one of the digital boards from a 1911/2011. When the corrosive electrolyte leaks, it reacts with the solder, increasing its melting point. I sometimes use bismuth solder to help lower the melting point, making it easier to remove the cap. The twisting method can be risky, due to ripping the tracks. Some boards are worse the others. The electrolyte can also damage other components and eat through vias (through hole link) causing all sorts of issues….
It’s like plucking the hair out of your nose.
Stop that!
The anxiety 😥
Can hear Brutus paws coming over to check your work.
Is there a good way to hide scuffs on a silver trinitron bezel? Is painting it wise?
this is not how you do it, you can very easily rip the pads off the pcb. Instead, cut it at its base with a flush cutter and then just rip it off gently piece by piece.
