Steam Deck emulation is all the rage right now and the Virtual Boy is a great console to emulate on Valve’s handheld gaming PC! Or is the Virtual Boy a handheld? honesty I don’t know but it has some Nintendo hidden gems so use this Steam Deck How to Emulate guide to get you playing today so you…

I remember playing virtual boy years ago at a target and was not impressed by it. Even though I couldn’t articulate it as a kid I knew if I were to sit down and play a game it was so much easier with a game boy than sitting there in a fixed position for hours.
Another way they could revitalize virtual boy is if someone made an emulator that worked on a Vr headset like meta quest and vive so you can play games 3d.
I give Nintendo props for taking a risk but this was a poorly designed product
Many people reported headaches using original hardware and the virtual boys actually had a “automatic pause” around 15 minutes to help gamers handle headaches. A console should NEVER get it in the way of a gamers gaming session making them physically uncomfortable.
I guess a parser in Steam Rom Manager hasn't been created yet. You can just select an existing parser, copy it, and change a few values to make one. In the meantime, I guess you could just put your roms into the correct folder and they should appear in Emulation Station Desktop Edition.
At least this one won’t send you blind!
Somebody really needs to do a full proper colorization of virtual boy Wario Land
Only recently installed emudeck to my SD and funnily enough the main reason was for VB. I had one back in the day. Anyway, I have it working fine, but I mainly wanted to use my Xreal Air glasses for the 3d. It's working to a fashion, it's in 3d but It's off to the left a little. And maybe a bit small to what it could be, playable but not perfect, something I'm certain it could be with a little tinkering, either with certain menu settings or a .ini tweak.
I wish nintendo brought the library to 3ds. At least that would have been 3d without using glasses.
Whoa! Now they have the Virtual Boy?! Awesome VGE. I love the VB, and I was on launch day for it at Kay*Bee toy Store for one. I miss that store. 8^)
Anthony..
I had a Virtual Boy back in the day with Wario and Mario Tennis. When I emulate it, I like to go with green or magenta
Would you consider a tutorial on the Sega Model 2 and 3 for Steam deck?
I played Virtual Boy on a VR Headset. Set it to B&W no issues. Now it is possible to catch up on Wario the non headache 3d way 🙂
I have a soft spot for the Virtual Boy! I was there on day one for the console (yes, I paid $180 for it!). Still have it, and it still works! I also have the official AC adapter for it. I used to play mine for hours without issue…well except for the fact that after playing it for a long time, everything looks green for a bit when you take your head out of it! 😅
Love the steamdeck for emulation
I know this would probably bankrupt Valve if they ever released this, but a 3D-capable Steam Deck (a Steam 3Deck if you will) would be incredible. Historically speaking portable devices are the most successful form-factor for 3D (both the 3DS and VR headsets come to mind), and Asus’s 3D OLED technology could be a straight upgrade over the best the Deck can offer right now.
Then again, the 3D effect would need to render twice the resolution for the effect to work, so draining twice the battery power for a niche effect would probably be a no go once again for most people. Unless Valve could be cheeky and keep 800p the upper limit with the 3D running at 400p, which might be a compromise too far for 3D fanatics lol.
A virtual boy core would be good for mister fpga
I wonder can you emulate taito x games on steam deck.
Wouldn't it be nice to import the folder in retroarch? that way you can browse to it from the main menu.
Man I can't wait to buy this next year
This entire year I've just been emulating so much that my Steam year end review was pitiful.
