Talking about your job

Hey everyone! My name is Lily, and today I’m going to talk about my job and career path, and share some tips for anyone interested in a similar field.

I work as a Project Manager at a company called Cisco, which specializes in engineering and technology services. I’ve been working here for about 5 years now. When I first started, I had a 3-month probation period, which gave me time to get used to the company and understand the job requirements before becoming a permanent employee.

Currently, I earn around $80,000 a year, which is a good salary in my industry. I work 40 hours a week, typically 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday. However, there are times when we have tight deadlines, and I need to work overtime. I don’t mind though, because I get paid extra for those hours, and it’s always satisfying to see a project completed successfully!

In my role, I coordinate with different teams, including our engineers and recruiters, to ensure projects are on track and within budget. I oversee the timelines, assign tasks, and resolve any problems that arise. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s also very rewarding.

One of the best parts of my job is the opportunities for growth. Over the years, I’ve received a few awards for my work, including Employee of the Year and a Leadership Award, which has been such an honor. The company also offers some great benefits, like health insurance, flexible working hours, and opportunities for professional development.

My favourite part of the job is definitely working with such talented people and learning new skills every day. The job is also very stable because we work with long-term clients who trust us to deliver high-quality solutions. Plus, the demand for skilled project managers and engineers in the tech industry keeps growing, so I feel confident about the future of my career.
