The latest trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has done much to assuage my initial worries.

  1. this is the first zelda game im not excited for. it looks great, I like the story. i don't wanna build stuff anymore. it was exhausting in totk. I'm not a big fan of the summoning either. i hope seeing more of the game will change my mind but idk

  2. Worries gone? It still uses the same freakin' UI and nearly the same powers as TotK. It literally TotK seen from above. Alright, the story and characters do seem good though this time, a lot. Really could do without the TotK BS though.

  3. With Bind and Echoes, I'm a bit worried that with the "play your way" philosophy, the game will run into the same issue as ToTK where you have extremely overpowered abilities and no puzzles that really demand you to explore the depth of those abilities almost at all, leading to an underwhelming campaign even when deliberately playing through the game as the developers intend.

  4. Honestly, this game looks far better than Princess Peach Showtime. It looked the game can be something young boys and girls can also play without the challenge being an pushover & do an single button win scenario. Not saying an easy game can't be fun nor I'm not asking for an super difficult game here. But it would be nice to balanced the difficulty curve so the kids can learn. My biggest worries at this point from what I've seen is that if this game plays too close to BotW/TotK. I'm not an huge fan of BotW/TotK. So I hope we don't do an whole lot of crafting, item fetch and other things like BotW/TotK has. That and I hope the world map isn't huge. But we'll just have to wait and see.

  5. If anyone still cares about the timeline, this could possibly be an alternate timeline starting at the Ganondorf fight in the Oracle games where he does get revived correctly and used a power to cause these rifts. Link shot the arrow to free Zelda from the crystal and she escapes, leading to the events to Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. Additionally, Link could be in Link's Awakening at the same time, meaning either the events after Link's Awakening are placed in a timeline split with Echoes of Wisdom in its place or Echoes of Wisdom being a split in a different direction in the timeline.

Or this could be a timeline split in A Link to the Past but Link walking up stairs towards Ganon instead of falling in from above into a Pyramid and walking up stairs would mean he could be walking to Ganon after the Twinrova fight in the Oracle games.

What do you think? I'd love to know your thoughts if you still believe in the timeline like I do haha ^-^

  6. #HotTake the only reason we are getting smoothies in this game is because Nintendo wants to preserve Zelda’s dainty image.

They dont want fans to see Zelda warf down a haunch of meat like Link does in BOTW/TOTK.

    Just Nintendo being Nintendo.
    Let 👏🏼
    Zelda👏🏼
    Eat👏🏼
    MEAT 🍖 👏🏼

  7. I agree! In general I prefer 2D Zelda, so I'm super happy with the direction they're taking it!
And I like that it has some of the BOTW/TOTK identity while still being very much a puzzly 2D Zelda game.
This might become my next favourite Zelda game! I just hope that the story will be just a little bit more than "Go save Link!"
Monish Cap in my opinion is the best 2D game in terms of story, some other 2D games have been lacking a bit. So fingers crossed that it has some depth.

  8. It's amazing how powerful a trailer can be, as it can change someone's hype level completely. This game looks incredible coming from a non-Zelda fan (hope to be playing my first Zelda game, A Link Between Worlds, soon tho)

  9. Hi Arlo! I just subscribed and idk if you read these comments (esp bc im a day late lol) but immediately after watching the trailer, i was excited to see your take on it and then i thought "hey i should subscribe" 🙂 Anyway, i'm just commenting to say that there is absolutely precedent for nintendo to hide a core feature like dark worlds and etc from trailers lol, as we saw with the depths being completely hidden until the release of Tears of the Kingdom!! Though idk if they would do that here or not but.. just wanted to point that out! Could be just a small thing but could be something huge! No way to really guess yet i guess hehe
So excited for this game and hoping it brings ppl lots of joy 🙂 Take care!

  10. There's a lot interesting in EoW, but they still haven't shown any meat.

The world is at least interesting, especially since we have actual classic designs (Deku > Koroks) and there's other interesting bits like what might be a Gerudo king. Like a full on Gerudo man that isn't Ganondorf.

  11. Knowing Nintendo now I don’t think it’s out of the picture for them to hide major stuff like a dark world and such. Cuz let’s not forgot they hid a whole underground world on tears and never promoted it😭😭😭

  12. this kinda looks like breath of the wild were the sheika slate replaces even the sword. i hope the omni tool concept is dropped after this. Aonuma is going down a rabbit hole i cannot follow.

  13. I think the portals may not lead to an entire dark world, but maybe a labyrinth that connects all the portals together. It wouldn't be as taxing to make but still a cool idea. Maybe it's just individual dungeons like you said.

  14. This trailer confirms my worries. Open ended rather than single solution puzzles. Sadly, I think I'll have to pass on this one and wait for a traditional 2D Zelda. Not holding my breath

  15. Consider for a moment that "Zora" is likely just the Hylian word for "fish people." Or "people of the waters" or something to that measure. So it would make sense that the two separate versions of Zora are still just referred to plainly as such.

Edit: In the same vein of logic, "Rito" can be just a Hylian word for "bird people", which is why Zora and Rito both exist in the BotW and TotK games. Remember that the Rito of Windwaker appeared more lime humanoid figures with bird-like features. Whereas the Rito in most recent games are much more like anthropomorphic bird people, even having different species of birds as inspiration.

  16. I’m telling ya, that item screen to create an echo is probably going to be horrible. Every time they create an echo in the trailers they typically already have it selected. I’m thinking because they don’t want us to see how long and TOTK feeling it’s going to be. I’m hoping I’m wrong.
