i'm a student and i need a long term device for uni. is this still can be bought in 2024? i'm just worried about what gonna happen when it will not supported after 2025
Honestly, ive not seen the point in upgrading my mac. and I think now in my own opinion the new ROG16 (2024) the aluminum one haha! has in somewhat way made the MBP less attractive to me with being able to upgrade storage and ram. If apple was to bring back upgradable storage (which they probably won't) I don't think ill ever buy a new mac, Id most likely just save my money and buy the ROG16, where I can game and do editing.
But anyway the M1 air I've had since the beginning battery life is still good, speed is still great, light editing is still great too, even heavy editing, it may not be THAT fast as M2/M3 but its not worth getting the new MBA. M1 is decent enough.

I'm debating getting one for my dad instead of the M3 Air. Normally, I'm in the latest and greatest camp because I believe in future proofing. I'd hate to get him one only for Apple to cut support for the M1 chips because it's cutting into their sales they're still that good. Also, I took a break from retail WoW. SOD is pretty legit and a nice nostalgia trip.
Best Buy has or did have this for $649.

When I watch such videos, one point is always missed. That macbook battery was manufactured in 2020. Realistically, how long will it last before having issues?

My M1 is completely dead in just 1 year, it had so many problems like overheating housing causing PCB delamination, battery quickly drains to the internal heat due to the "fanless" design, the SSD failed in just 6 mos., and had to have it replaced with Apple Care. M1 is more like a prototype to its successors than a proper laptop. lol
Bought one. Use it, get impressed and give it to my cousin 😊 she went to college. After that, I bought another one and am typing on it now
I think the larger portion of the customers do not create videos (unlike what most YouTubers want to believe) & most people just care about productivity apps like MS office or browsing or something of that sort! For this kind of work, M1 Air will outperform all your expectations! Plus, with incredible battery! Great video!
Bought it when it first came out for the wife… she didn’t like it so gave it the daughter and she loves it, and whenever i need to use it for some light editing work, its amazing how well it holds up.. and now with the price decrease at Walmart its amazing value, especially for students etc
It's a kind of fake. Have u used Android studio or coding and photo editing and 26 tabs in chrome? I would say it won't run smooth. U can check. I don't knw y m1 users are making others to buy m1 than m2 and m3. Foolishness.
M3 or m2 is best than m1.
Dont fall in other m1 users fake dialogues.

I bought an entry level M1 in November and it's fantastic, it replaced a (at the time!) top of the range mid 2012 MacBook Pro 15" with quad i7 with 16GB ram that I had stuck two SSD drives in, and whilst I loved that machine for years and years, this little Air is just brilliant, and 16-18 hours battery life regularly (I'm a web dev, PHP and MySQL) compared to not quite 4 hours on the old MAcbook Pro, and not having to carry around a charger most of the time make it amazing to work with, I agree probably one of the best laptops ever made (of all time!)
