1) The goal of the game is to get materials, more and better materials over time
2)To get another tier of a boat, you need to board it. That means you have to first destroy it's guns, second to destroy the helmsman or the driver. Then you will have an option to board it, either loot or transfer the crew and items to the boat. This is very hard to do since you need a lot of room to work. Later you will make specialised boarding ships to get more ship types
3)You have a limtied amound of crew so there is a max number of guns and the crew that mans them must have the right skills. 5 is the number you will play with a lot of time, 1 driver and 4 gunners
4) Quests are very important to complete, they will later give you much better quests
5)Every repair you do costs resources, higher tier guns or equipment is harder to repair so don't upgrade too fast
6)Main currencies are corks and coins. The corks are used to trade various materials at various traders, mostly importantly gun parts. The coins are used in the base store to buy boarding equipment, cosmetics and other cool stuff like a fog horn
7)Ship layout, alywas use max number of guns since thats usually 4 but also get a lot of batteries to store power. Power is used to shoot guns, move and boost your movement.
8)Weight of the ship. Your ship always shows capacity. The more loot you have on the ship the faster your ship will sink so put materials in base often
9) Events, they are important to get coins but keep in mind you also loose resources with the repairs so sometimes its better to focus on your other tasks if your ship is not filled with parts
10) PvP/PvE, the game has factions and some factions will be able to attack you anywhere for no real benefit to them but you lose a lot of supplies. Use whirlwinds and currents to escape.
11) Dredging, use the scanner and dredge for resources as much as you can, its super important. Some resources like chemical waster are mostly obtained through dredging. The little scanner near the minimap, follow it if it glowns. Press U to deplay scanner and P to dredge when near the glowing point
12) Press Q to use special items, the consumables that give big bonuses for a short time
13) you need food and water for the crew
Final Mega tip: keep in mind that everything that is exposed and gets damaged on your ship must be repaired with resources. So the more stuff you have and the less protected it is, the more resources you lose repairing it. Equipment also looses efficiency as it gets damaged like a battery storying less power when at low durability
