  1. it’s interesting to see everyone not be excited for the R1 but i work as a science and weapons test photographer and we’re looking at upgrading from nikon D6s and 120fps stills without loosing time for the mirror to flip is going to be amazing for our use case, although it’s a very specialized high speed use like you said.

  2. I've been in to photography since 2009 and every year we are constantly told that we need the next best thing as it's lighter, faster and comes with the next gen bells and whistles.

How many people in the real world need so many fps or a billion pixels?

  3. Man i can’t believe ppl making video on a camera that maybe 1 year maybe 5 years out😢 Sony still got ammo left r6 s4 still need to come out 😮so canon better be ready 🎉

  4. Push “clear” on your microwave.

I seldom use any options above 20 fps. Too many pics to go through and maybe just luck, but I tend to get “the shot” in the 12-20 fps modes.

  5. Can't say how happy I have been shooting the Sony A1 since the day it came out. I don't feel like I will be at a disadvantage at all with my 3+ year old camera.

  6. 120fps would use an entire 36 film roll in 0,3 seconds. WOW OMG!!! I come from the film era and can't believe what I'm reading in the comments. Nothing seems to be enough nowadays. Everybody needs more and more secs and performance. I wonder if they are so much better photographers proportionally to the progress in performance of their equipments. Maybe NOT. Nobody talks about image quality straight from the camera, sensor quality, etc.. I'm eager to check some RAW files produced by de R1. I can guess that they will be astonishing. See you soon.

  7. The majority of those complaining about this body don’t even shoot “D” bodies in the first place…this is a very NICHE market that this body caters to…NOT meant for MUDBLOODS. 😊

  8. Thanks Tony. Long time subscriber. As a Sony user, I would appreciate something which might have bothered only me.. -BUT here goes.. – How about a 2-stage shooting button, close to what is utilized for years in handguns (two concentric stages – the first is for focus holding/grabbing, the second – with a slight "resistance", is shallower, and used to complete the shooting movement, where you can "squeeze" the trigger, instead of concentrating on NOT shooting and holding the half-trigger for focus.

  9. considering the tremandous costs, that come with the purchase, this is for pros only, I will not even think about wasting my time with these specs. Rather take my camera and go shooting.

  10. A 'flagship camera' with 30 MP in 2024? Ridiculous. That´s okay for the `sports camera´ R3, but for the R1 I was expecting the best image quality with the highest resolution, not another machine gun fast readout cam. I will go to middle format and keep my 1DX2.

  11. I feel like you guys let it get to you when people give you negative comments but who cares you guys are obviously one of the top camera channels and you obviously know what you’re doing.

  12. no way. Canon is DONE if these are the specs. Megapixals do count. Especially in sports where you need to digitally re-frame and push in from time to time. I''ve never needed such fast auto focus or a burst rate a a billion frames a second to catch the moment. I get that it's hard to design a sensor in that form factor that can compete with a high MP count like fuji but come on Canon. Do better

  13. FPS is not a big deal to me, around 30 is a sweet spot for me. less files to go though too. I just want a great pre-capture feature and great AF

  14. This cracks me up… I never turn off mechanical shutter, not because of rolling shutter issues, but rather i often choose Mechanical shutter. For the feel I VERY much like that haptic feedback. It was literally the reason i bought my first semi real digital camera over 200 bucks many many years ago. (Sony nex5n and yes i still have it and use it even though i also own an fx3 and a7cii)

  15. I like your comparisons. Good video. I don't know why with these cameras offered today that if you need a high frame rate. Why don't you just shoot video. Granted, there should be one or two cameras in the whole industry that has extremely high frame rates for such things scientists would need. But for the rest of us if sixty frames per second in video won't be enough, there may be something wrong with your photography. I scrub through video frames all the time for the perfect still shot. Even at family reunions I shoot video for the family photo and then pull the best frame. I do the same for humming birds. It adds too much to the cost of the camera to have these high frame rates. Just to put the facts into the real world, if a car was traveling sixty miles per hour the distance traveled in one sixtieth is just over a quarter inch. It's bad enough the gouge camera companies are adding. Call it the gouge tax. If they want to sell more cameras, reduce the price to a fair profit and don't expect to recoup development costs after selling five cameras. I need a fully articulating screen for photos because often I have my camera above my head and shoot with a remote. If too many people squawk offer the camera both ways with and without an articulating screen. I would agree with security on a camera. But for GPS, let the camera grab it from your phone or other device. The number of people who actually care about location are a weak minority, so drop a bone and let the camera talk to your phone for extra data. GPS may be the most expensive component on the camera, after liability insurance for the camera company. Again, good video. Be safe.

  16. So…Petapixel is also commenting on the "specs" that Adorama "leaked". Garbage. The specs are garbage. Adorama pulled them because they were not real. So, what do we have here, Tony? A whole video based on rumor mill garbage. Now, I'll admit that maybe the rumor mill got it right…but I'm very, very skeptical. And yet, here you are reporting as though Canon released these specs. They did not. Petapixel only published them because Adorama did. But now Petapixel is complaining about Adorama screwing up. So…bottom line. Take these specs with a grain of salt.
