The ONEXGPU is an external GPU solution for a handheld or mini PC, basically anything with a USB4 or OCculink port. Let’s take a look at this Radeon RX 7600M XT eGPU and see if it’s a good fit for you.

  1. It’s portable compared to the other eGPU setups where you have a separate power supply or ones that are just a large case. I did an AI demo at my local congressperson’s office back in November and needed a tub for all the components.

  2. PSA: the plug for this device is absolutely gigantic making it a ricidulous choice for a portable device. Good luck even finding somewhere that you can even fit that plug.

  3. Let's tell it like it is: This looks like a great product that should probably be in 300-400 range.
The price it has now just kills it for only people who have money to burn on this kind of the product.
The fact that you can buy a full blown computer with screen, cpu, RAM, storage, keyboard and battery aka laptop for only 400USD more just shows just how bad that price is.
Because there is no way that AMD 7940HS, 16Gb of RAM, 1Tb of storage. 16" LCD screen, keyboard, battery and the laptop chassis cost only 400USD.

I do not know how much they pay to AMD for the GPU chip itself to justify this price.

  4. The industry needs to start using a unified connector for mobile gpus…MXM rtx4000 series, rx7000m series…upgradeable…this would make much more sense if there was a path to longevity. The 780m that is integrated into the new Ryzen APU's runs pretty good so the uptick of an external gpu isnt that large and the difference shrinks with each release.

  5. The idea is great, but the actual play-off (definitely with the price) is not.
If I were to get this, the most I could see would be to be able to travel with it, but with the weight I don't think I'd want to. Hotels would be alright, or travelling and staying at a friends house, but most of the time when I'm in a situation like that I'm either only at the hotel to sleep, or my friends got a system we'll play on together anyways.
For home use, and using the hand-held when out at work or getting a bus, I'd much rather get a PC (even small factor for those with little space), since you can upgrade it bit by bit when it's needed, get the performance of a desktop GPU, and with cloud-saves being commonplace on most launchers (like Steam) you don't have to worry about moving games across… You can even install the game on your desktop, then transfer it to the handheld when you get home so you don't have to wait for the download to go through again, if you're using Steam.

  6. Wish you would have posted this two day ago I just got this If I had seen this and knew fallout new Vegas doesn't run on the 7600xt drivers I would not have ordered it now I'm stuck with it.

  7. I think this is a cool idea. It does not make sense for me I have a couple of handhelds and for me I only want to play them in handheld mode. If it was $399 or so then it would be a lot easier to spend the money money on it. If I want better performance then I will use my gaming laptop.

  8. I love the concept of these, until you realize that a 7600xt is a $330 GPU, which means you are paying a $370 overhead, for a case, a hub, and a charger, for a less powerful GPU.

And that assumes that it stays at that $700 price, and doesn't go up to the listed MSRP, ever.

The hard reality is, I can put together a whole desktop gaming computer for the price of this accessory, with a 7600XT in it. So if this thing lives at home, and you plug your handheld into it to play at the house, you're better served making a desktop. If you just want a little mobile fun and a good experience at home, you can get a refurbished steamdeck for as low as $280, and put $700 into a solid 1080p/1440p gaming desktop for a total cost of about $1000 compared to the $1400 you're dumping into this dock and a compatible gaming handheld. Toss that entire $1400 budget at a desktop and you have a rock solid 1440p/4k machine.

The use cases for these mobile docks just don't make sense. If you have a $1400 budget for a portable gaming device, and you actually spend the majority of your life in a situation where you're not doing most of your gaming at home, where you can game on a better desktop? You can get gaming laptops with 4060's in them for $1100. A laptop GPU that scores significantly higher than the GPU in this device. So you could get that $1100 laptop, and that re-furbished steamdeck and have a better laptop, AND a handheld for truly mobile use.

At no point, ever, does it make a lick of financial sense to buy this unit. Not for home use, not for mobile use, unless, specifically, you already have a compatible handheld, and at that point the GPD unit costs less with the same chip in it, and is more portable besides.

  9. The question is, how many people buying a handheld PCs don't own a PC already. A RX 7600 XT with 16GB RAM costs around 370 Euros incl. 19% VAT here. 400 Euros would be the max I would be willing to spend if I would travel often, wanting to play in high details on my trips and wouldn't go for a gaming laptop.

  10. What is the graphics performance difference with something link ayaneo flip which has an oculink port to utilize the full potential of the egpu..@retrogamecorps please another video when you have the ayaneo flip ds with this egpu over oculink vs TB4

  11. Just my opinion but yes as far as being able to hook a GPU up to your handheld, I think is cool and functional, but the price is going to keep it from being as big a seller as it could be

  12. I bought one of these with the same Minisforum Mini PC showed on this video to replace my desktop PC I bought new in 2017. Using the mini PC with this eGPU has been pretty great, haven't had any issues so far and the combo plays everything really well. The power supply is pretty beefy and I had to use a second extension cord for it.

  13. You can't live with Your own failure (APU is not strong enough for mid-high games)
Where did that bring You, Back to me (GPU based on PC)

  14. i just dont understand, external gpu connected to the portable steam deck.. the deck become less portable and become a standard PC. with controllers…

  15. bro 2:09 AMD GPUs are not in the Ryzen line. Radeon is what it is. also, missed an opportunity to utilize Radeon Super Resolution. with it, you can probably extract 5% to 10% more performance for games that do not support native FSR.

  16. This looks cool, but I kind of wish that these handheld PCs would design their eGPU dock in a way where you can set your handheld system in it rather than having it dangling somewhere.
Also, there being two different USB 4 standards (the 40GB/s, and 80GB/s) totally isn't going to result in confusion. Bought an Alienware gaming laptop and while it supports USB 4 and eGPUs, the bandwidth is so bad where you may as well just run on the dedicated GPU it comes with.

  17. Here's and idea quit stair stepping with all these handhelds that obviously are still powerful emulators at the very best and build a true 1080p/60fps handheld with something like a 7600M in it or any other laptop gpu like a 4050

  18. There is a small German company focused in Linux laptops that has a laptop with 7600M
    It's called tuxedo.
Their TUXEDO Sirius 16 – Gen2 has the mentioned GPU.
