People complaining about the waggle in DKC Returns just blows my mind. If you were using your Wii from 2006-2011, you were completely use to waggle by that point. That’s like complaining about waggle in Mario Galaxy. I just think people like to bitch about the Wii even when it’s not warranted.
Every time I think I can't feel older, Felix says something that makes me realize just how old I really am… the offhand Perfect Dark/007 similarity "observation" really killed me haha

It would have been surprising if they announced they would stop harassing fan projects and game preservation. This was just a rehash of popular IP's in a new package. No Nintendo for me.

Nintendo Life seems to shill for anything Nintendo. Otherwise, they would likely lose their special access. This Nintendo Direct was mediocre. The worst was the new Zelda game. The Legend of Zelda is about fighting monsters with a sword. This new Zelda is just a puzzle game. Puzzle games are not much fun to play and, even worse, have no replay value. PASS. The only two games I really want are Marvel vs. Capcom Collection and Metroid Prime 4.
As good as a direct as that was, it's interesting which remakes were missing.
No twilight princess, windwaker, F zero gx, or Metroid prime 2/3. I personally think we'll see a switch 2 exclusive GameCube Nintendo online subscription to cover most of those games… No games this December so maybe they'll do a cheek Metroid 2 and 3 port double pack for then, but it's Nintendo so who knows
Metal Slug Reloaded was an Apple Arcade game. We had quite a few of them in this Direct.
All those IP in the Funco Pop game are Universal properties.

The marvel vs capcom collection is the highlight I don’t even remember what else came with it….
Those mobile versions of DQ1-3 are terrible.
I really think Metroid Prime 4 Beyond would be a launch title for the next Nintendo console as well.

I think they made very little fuss over the Zelda game, considering I think it looks like it will be an incredible game. I thought Metroid 4 was going to be the end announcement, purely because Zelda was in the middle.

Okay, let’s be honest- DKC Returns is a Prime candidate for being in a Retro game store. I mean, they developed it, if any store should have the game, it’s Retro Studios.
I hope Alex is kidding that 7 boards is good, but they could do more. That’s on the higher end for Mario Party in terms of boards. Either way, that game looks so good, I am incredibly excited for Super Mario Party Jamboree! The new boards look great and the fact they brought back Western Land is a dream come true for when I dreamed sad cried myself to sleep dreams of Mario Party Superstars DLC.
Mario and Luigi is back, I never expected that, and it looks BEAUTIFUL! I love the new art style and the game just looks fun, so happy to see this back
I am SUPER happy for the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, because it is cool when these games finally get localized. And I am a big Ace Attorney fan, so I’m super looking forward to this.
And DONKEY KONG IS BACK! FINALLY! Like, it’s a 10/10 Direct for me solely because DK got anything new that was actually DK focused. Mario vs Donkey Kong was a fun game, I enjoyed it… but Donkey Kong could be any character and it wouldn’t change how the game plays or greatly impact the story. DK hasn’t had anything since 2018, and even that was also a port. Returns HD looks very good and I’m very happy to see it back. It’s Returns with the 3DS levels on a console so it looks nice… it’s exactly what I wanted, since I wanted this game almost as much as a new game to have the full series on Switch.

There were some hidden gems but personally I felt that this Direct was mostly mid and not peak like I saw the rumors say that it was going to be.

DK returns only in January 25 does not make sense at all…. Everybody was expecting a new entry for DK, and Nintendo announces a remaster for 2025?!?!? Are kidding me…..
Nintendo is just on repeat, repeat, and repeat again mode (NES Championships looks amazing, as does Brotherhood and the new LOZ), all these games we already have, I don't need a game I already have that I can play with 0ms latency with beautiful scanlines on a CRT or OLED display to be made in HD with much worse gameplay due to having 10 times the latency (which results in poor input response times and ruins the core gameplay), I want to see new games and IP's, or new games from neglected IP's like Pilot Wings, Chibi-Robo, Lylat Wars, Wave Race, 1080 Snowboarding, Excitebike, a new Duck Hunt and F-Zero, where are the Nintendo games with good clean fun gameplay, all we get are rehashes and dozens of Mario & Zelda games every year (that look the freaking same), where are the Eternal Darkness, Mother/Earthbound and Twin Snakes calibre games, is this all Nintendo is now, Mario & Zelda devs, imagine if Nintendo started pumping out fun packed games again and new IPs, and Sega did the same with new Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Golden Axe, Power Stone, Hydro Thunder, House of the Dead, Clockwork Knight, Nights, and on and on, pure gameplay rich games that you can't put down, that actually are released complete and finished, what a concept.

What I just realised was the lack of an amiibo announcement. I don't suppose it was really on anyone's bingo card for this direct – but its curious that there hasn't been any new Amiibo for a while… Personally I'd love a Princess Zelda in the Echoes of Wisdom style to go with my Link's Awakening Link.
