Great video! There's just something about this game, the art style is cool to look at. A bit cryptic and tedious and difficult but a well crafted video game at the end of the day. gg man Happy New Year
I used to get so pissed playing this.
Ohhhh man, i love that game.🎉
Good video friend. This game is on my to-do list. I played a bit, got really angry and quit. It's those F***ING blue worms!!! 🤬
I always wanted to play this game back in the 80s and wanted to borrow from this guy a few blocks from the house but he always made it hard to borrow from him. I got the game from an eBay lot many years ago and just never got the time to play this now.
Your reference to SNES Drunk went right over my head lol
Since not playing this as a kid I always carry a glass of olives with me just in case
Have you considered making a compilation of a bunch of your videos so we dont have to make our own playlist? Like a 3 or 4 hour video, they seem to do well on other channels and they are really appreciated. Thank you.
Makes me miss Guardian Legend!
I remember that commercial and I never understood how Guardian Legends got compared to either of the Zelda games.
Those enemies that are too low to hit was one of the reason Shigeru Miyamoto prefer not to used swords in his RPGs, instead Super Mario RPG's main weapon is a hammer and could hit enemies with ease. It's also the reason why he return the Zelda series to the top down view rather than continue using the side-scrolling aspect.
My girlfriend was abducted by the ruler of the underworld…olives…haha
This is one of my favorite games for the NES. I've beaten it quite a lot over the years, yet somehow never knew there was a Game Boy version. Is it largely the same game or is it different enough to look out for?
Great review, NESguy!
Just found this series, and I just have to point out and commend how admirable your earnest positivity is for anything even vaguely warranted in these games. I do all I can to avoid AVGN-esque vitriol as we plod through these 8/16-bit games on our pod, but there are all too many where I just can’t hold it in. Haha
Great work, man!
Shout-out to Jeremy Parish. I've got his latest video queued up after this one!
Going into random peoples homes to ask what the heck is going on in games like this….Mmmm, so that's why people have been upset with me😂.
In all seriousness though I love this game when I stumbled across it at a pawn shop 15+ years ago, it's one of those games that I felt comfortable paying 2 bucks for and get enough entertainment out of it.
I remember playing this one years ago and getting lost. I liked it. I think it may be time to dust it off and try again in 2024. Keep an eye out for a potential beat tweet haha. Great video, Trav!
Great stuff as always. Dude, you’ve definitely got your own style. You might be inspired by SNESDrunk, but I don’t see much similarity. I particularly appreciate how you start the reviews with substantial background and the ads.
I just want to say that I’ve searched YouTube for the commercial you used (as well as Guardian Legend) and I wasn’t able to find it.
I adore this game but have never made the push to finish it.
This did the thing with the ocarina before that time game about the ocarina.
You get some sweet side boob action on the “Sea Hag Vampire”.
One of the few nes games with purple/black areas! It reminds me of not just Z2, but subcon in mario 2 and the night beach stage in Little Nemo. I didnt see this as a kid, but its on the list!
I vaguely remember this game, enough that I recall it being worth playing. Don't remember it being like Zelda II, which I think is not a bad thing. That was a great game.
I saw this game when I was a kid on the home shopping network at like 1 am. I came so close to waking up my dad to ask him to buy it. But I knew there would be consequences deep down, and still have never played it.
Easily one of the top five soundtracks on the NES
The Battle of Olympus got excellent graphics. 😀👍🎮
A trick that I abused the heck out of when I beat this last year:
Enemies won't spawn again until you pick up whatever they dropped. So just leave that olive on the ground. This is almost a must in the mountains, where birds keep spawning from the edge of the screen.
7:02 You can keep your olives by choosing the second continue option. Great review, thank you!
p.s. I released a randomizer hack for this game for anyone interested.
"Seahag vampire."
Ah yes, Medusa is exactly that.
For sure one my favourite games
