RuFF had some great mass reaper +1 timing builds. Reapers benefit from attack upgrades more than any other unit in the game, so much that the upgrade+engi pays for itself if you are planning to have more than 5 reapers. Especially against protoss with their 1 default armor.
Might be some real troll potential going for +1 attack straight into neosteel armor for a reaper+bunker push or contain. Could even go for reactors on the rax and use the extra minerals to get the expansion up earlier.

my favourite way of dealing with known cannon rushers is to proxy myself, then it is very easy to get behind the cannons and snipe the pylons

In this kind of situation, with the cannon rush, couldn’t you just pick up your base all your workers and everybody and leave that base
